not much use for age-restriced HC/PHV though really...even 5% bio-derv is a risk

ah, that may be the case, but what is the maximum age of vehicle you put a plate on afresh?

here ive seen x reg plated saloons, but the new plate rule is 5 years

in north warwickshire its 3 years but theres a T reg plated hackney saloon and even then purpose built/"london cabs" are accepted older...(10 years here)

ask your LA or LO

i converted my car a while back to run on waste cooking oil i know there no problem with a normal mot as its a legal fuel and the emmitions is a lot lower than diesel . but wats it like for a taxi mot.

waste cooking oil?

from your chippy?

how did you convert your car?

BTW, an mot test for a diesel tests for smoke, not emissions

????

Emissions are tested on our diesels down here.

Should imagine it would be the same nationwide.

on a deisel its smoke/particulates being checked, not whats IN the smoke...

A. Vehicles first used before 1 August 1979

1. The exhaust emits dense blue or clearly visible black smoke for a period of 5 seconds at idle

2. The exhaust emits dense blue or clearly visible black smoke during acceleration which would obscure the view of other road users

Note: The criterion is density and not volume of smoke. The description 'dense smoke' includes smoke or vapour which largely obscures vision

Older vehicles, particularly pre-1960, sometimes emit unavoidable smoke due to their design. Such smoke is not a reason for rejection
