a taxi driver in York was telling me that he has to be interviewed and form filling in by the taxi Licence dept for an enhanced CRB

he was told to bring in objects like a utility bill, passport or photo id driving licence, he has to have a legal photo of himself to produce using either one of the former

the driver does not have a passport or photo id drivers licence, how does he go on from here if he dont have that stuff

taxi driver badge not accepted

ive contacted licencing department about car age this is reply

No age limit in South Tyneside as such but the age of the vehicle will determine how often inspections are required. Vehicles under 7 years old are required to be inspected every 6 months whereas vehicles 7years and older are required to be inspected every 4 months.

Vehicles must be suitable in size, type and design to be licensed. This will be determined by Licensing Officers as will the seating capacity of the vehicle - this may be an issue if you propose to licence an 'MPV' type vehicle. Check before you buy.

Once a vehicle is licensed the Council expects that it is properly maintained to a satisfactory standard at all times, including the bodywork which should be free from rust and dents and painted to a professional standard. This is the responsibility of the proprietor even if the licensed vehicle is rented out to a driver.

i also contate my local mp david miliband and this is the reply

Thanks for your email.

I have been in touch with the CRB section and they inform us that your application is with the local police force.

To help move things along, I have asked the CRB team in Liverpool to contact their liaison officer at the Northumbria force headquarters to try and speed things up. As you will appreciate, the local police at times have many applications to process, but hopefully the reminder will speed up the process.

Many thanks

Scott

We have to do all this to renew our badges when we have a new CRB check.
I think it is assumed that everyone has either a passport or a photocard driving license in this day and age but clearly this is not going to be the case. I don't have a photocard driving license myself. eusasmiles.zip

For those, including me, who have a photocard drivers licence.

Check (at 4b) the expiry date.

The photocard MUST be renewed every TEN years.

Unlike the old style paper one that lasts untill you are aged seventy.

Big fine for failing to renew, apparently.

Ref checks in York. I think you'll find that the form states that all documents produced must be in your current name (except marriage cert) and at least one document must show your current address and at least one must show your date of birth. You don't have to produce one with a photo. List of valid docs must include at least one from; Passport, UK birth cert, UK driving licence either photo or paper, EU id card, HM forces ID card, UK firearms licence or adoption cert. If you can't produce one of those you have to bring five form Group 2 which include things like birth cert, financial statement V5 doc, utility bills etc. etc.
And from what I've heard from my mole is that hardly any of the forms so far produced are correct, beacuse the drivers don't read the instructions as they think they know better!! thus causing friction between drivers and staff eg instruction on form... please write in black ink and capitol letters...form written in blue...excuse.. I didn't have a black pen, I didn't think it would matter!! taxi drivers are a wonderful bunch!!
