Day drivers in Brum have the same mentality since the day/night multi-tariff fare system was introduced in April this year.

The day crew believe that the day rates are too low now & want a chunk of the night rate on days.

Well I'm afraid it don't quite work that way!!

The whole idea of enhanced night rates is to encourage drivers to stay out later, come out earlier, & certainly come out at peak times at the weekend.

But it appears some in the day-time Brum trade have a 9am-5pm mentality. The cab game is & always have been a 24/7/365 trade, & I think what Reading are proposing, i.e. no rise on the night rate will eventually create a shortage of cabs on nights, followed by unmet demand at these times, & the inevitable screams when those that only want to work 9am-5pm realise that more plates will be issued.

Bad move IMO not to increase night rates when a fare increase is applied for.
