Coast line we will know the outcome within the next week or 2, and if it goes Berwicks way, as it should you will be free to save some shekels, and you council wont be able to implement there clauses no matter how much they want to

I think the main problem is that Berwick Council never see the vehicle nor the driver, as the judge said at the hearing, a mail order licensing system.

Some will ask what is the point of having local standards i.e. knowledge, DSA taxi test, age limits etc if a driver can ignore those and shop around for the cheapest and sh***iest standards.

Do we want a decent taxi/PH service or not? :?

But your hardly a vast metropolis.....we have 2 LO's, 1 LM, and a number of other office persons....and thats little Carlisle.

I dont know what the average wage of a civil servant is....but say its £20K per year....work the rest out for yourself.

I would add, if anyone in Newcastle is unhappy about their fees they can always request a breakdown via the FOI?

The ones in the offices are council employees so they work normal council hours, the taxi inspectors work a max 6 hours in-between playing golf or on holidays

The public of the Borders can sleep safely in their beds then

Spoke to berwick lic/off and they said that they belived taxi drivers to be proffesional people and would keep there cars up to standard also that the police also have the powers to check taxis and that vosa do periodic checks on taxis aswell which means that a berwick car can have 2 to 3 test in 1 year. Just dont no what to do
