To the owners of TXImage's
I don't wish to give you more to worry about but a few years ago my accountant told me that if you buy a cab and you have more than £22,000 in credit to repay then your statutory rights including the sale of goods act are affected and a new set of rules comes into play.
I am not sure about this but it would be worth taking advice before anyone starts quoting this supposed safe guards.

Also how come the price of a Vitto fitted with the London Taxi pack is £17,000 more expensive than one purchased for private hire.
That means a PHV driver can get a Vitto and a VW golf for about the same money as a Vitto Taxi and have enough left to insure them both for the first year.

That's the manufacturer recouping the huge costs involved in complying with the turning circle requirement.
Development costs alone would have been enormous.

My guess is the price will start to come down after they have sold x many units.

I'd be a bit worried if they did.

Mind you, I may know a London Licensed Taxi driver that could start a branch . . . . he has a lot in common with Terry.

I might be wrong, but if I was trying to get compensation out of LTI, I would imagine the GMB would have a better chance of success than many others unions/association.

You might be wrong? : wink:

I've every confidence that the owners of these affected Cabs who are members of the LTDA will be adequately compensated with the help of our in house solicitor and legal team
Of course those drivers who don't belong to a representative body will, as always, be fighting their own corner at their own expense.

I'm sure certain barrack-room lawyers will be doing a roaring trade with their amateur advice.

I have no reason to doubt what you say, but not everyone in London is in the LTDA, and they don't operate outside of London.

I think LTI have sort of admitted that folks are going to come after them with this, their first on this issue, statement. [-(

Cabs withdrawn for safety tests

Cabs are being withdrawn from service after a number of taxis burst into flames.

Some 11 vehicles in Brighton and Hove are to undergo checks after TX4 models across the country were affected by under-bonnet fires.

In the latest incident in London, the driver had only 45 seconds to escape the blaze.

Brighton and Hove City Council has licensed 25 of the taxis, of which 11 have the GX56 registration associated with the problem.

A spokesman said: “We’re likely to ask drivers to have safety checks on these cabs by a certain deadline, as is happening in London.”

Twelve TX4 cabs have burst into flames since being issued in October 2006.

LTI, the firm which manufactures the cars, said it would work closely with the Public Carriage Office (PCO) to ensure passenger and driver safety.Taxis will need to pass an engine safety inspection before being allowed back into service.

Transport for London, which has 600 taxis requiring the tests, said the affected TX4 models could be taken off the road if they failed to pass the checks.

A spokesman for LTI said: “To increase the capacity for inspections, LTI and taxi cab dealer Mann and Overton will now work extra shifts, operate an increased working day and open this Saturday and Sunday.

“Two expert independent fire investigators and the leading engineering design company, Ricardo, have also been contracted to help pinpoint the cause.

“LTI would like to reassure drivers that driver and passenger safety will always be a priority for LTI and we are working closely alongside the PCO at this time to solve this issue.

“LTI remains committed to finding the cause of this problem and a speedy effective solution.”

Mick Hildreth, manager of City Cabs in Brighton and Hove and GMB secretary for Hackney carriages and private hire cars in the provinces, said: “There are great concerns nationally about these vehicles and their safety.

“The GMB will be taking it up with the PCO and the vehicles will have to be checked to make sure they are safe.

“Drivers and passenger safety is the priority.”

than it took to watch the film.

Don't worry about it, as you’re not a member, it's nothing to do with you what our elected officers do.
(I was rather hoping you had a '56 reg' Mr A, a special one which combusts with the driver’s door locked shut)

If you look carefully enough, you'll see the young pretender Grant Davis desperately trying to climb over the gates at Woodfield Road, its becoming ever more apparent he hangs out there more often than the flea pit in SE1.

I wonder how the pensioners club will fund their legal action on behalf of their 34 members?

I note that you read our paper though? :?
