With the recent interest in consumer contracts regarding the LTI TX4 I've taken the liberty of posting the most recent OFT guidelines on contractual terms, which make interesting reading.

The updated guidelines lay out what is and what is not acceptable in contracts for consumers. The new guidance replaces previous guidelines published in 2001.

tell me, when i bought a brand new citroen relay LWB 2.8hdi van, was i a customer?

did i have rights?

so how come i still had it 2 years later after it going wonky every 12 weeks (almost exactly) and spending anything from 3 days to 2 weeks in the main stealers, er, dealers for parts worth anything from £25 to £500 (some of whiche were in stock, but most were not) and Citroen took my complaint and filed em in the round in tray on the floor?

luckily someone else with the same vehicle told me about black horse HP "hand back" clause so once i could, i did....

This clause isn't unique to Black Horse, you will find it in all HP agreements.

so long as they kept agreeing to repair it then i didnt have a leg to stand on.

(remember this was a working vehicle)

the clutch went at 15,000 miles, not slipping, no, it warped, citroen UK had the dealer strip the gearbox (mounted on the O/S of the engine (remember that) - 3 days to do.

2 weeks later my gang of spannermen (non-citroen) had it in for service and rang me up "you better come and look at this"

the O/S strut top bearing was U/S, it had fallen apart and the strut was banging up and down loose.

Citroen had to have jacked that side up to get the box off.....

the £27 bearing took a week to arrive

wheelbearings......dont make me larf

3 days to do 1?

but they insist on having a new spare hub on hand in case the press splits the old hub, and there are no hubs in the country

wiring looms, injectors (£500), engine and gearbox mountings...

the scariest thing? driving it to BCA measham to throw it back at 100,005 miles when the warranty ran out at 100k
