Apart from the TX4,what other vehicles (and I understand boats) has the VM engine been used in?

Any reports of fires?

Or is it only in the TX4?

My thoughts are with all drivers unable to work.

I did mention when it, when they first came out it has a Fiat engine or a fix it again tomorrow one lol
If the PCO come to there senses and pull all of them what would happen then, as PaulHornchurch says there is no cabs available to rent or hire
There is one job he and many other could apply for and that is enforcement officers to catch all the PH who pick up illegally

No mention of Europe in here yet

the maxus LDV van uses a VM engine as did the old Rover Sdi D, not sure which is what but surely Lti only buy a complete unit and bolt it in, they wont alter turbo's and feed pipes.

when I was looking at the TX 4.. (under the bonnet) it became clear that a front end shunt could prove to be extremely expensive... the brain box.. which is expensive.. which controls all the electrics.... is now fitted under the bonnet.. . you know one of those circuit board things that cost thousands....

LTI have now had a full week to find the cause and they can't. Neither can the fire forensic expert brought in by the PCO. So we have stalemate. The LTDA will be taking legal action against LTI, for its members that have been affected. LTI have accepted liability via their website.

What worries me is if this mess extends to all TX4's, then LTI might decide to go broke rather than pay what will be millions in compensation.

The LTDA have told me to cancel any finance payments due, and this has been done, the finance company is not a happy bunny.

However a cab that was last week worth approx £22k on the second hand market is now worth £0, and I still have £15k owing in finance so lets hope it doesn't get messy.

I cannot find a cab to rent, someone may have a F reg Metro at the weekend (oh great).

I can survive till middle of next week then I am going to have to find another job. I may have to swallow my pride and ask the PCO to issue a temp PH license so I can work for the opposition or apply for a full one.

I am so annoyed it's untrue.

I hate the mercedes taxi that's just come out but I can't see me buying from LTI again.

Be Lucky Paul

I would be extremely weary of doing that they could take you to court for the out standing amount and you could be blacklisted so could not get credit.
The second option would tide you over you could make a mint as the only PH who knows where your going

Could this be the end of the ''kit car'' concept for a taxi and we return to a converted car/van/people carrier?

Up to the 1950s,many taxis were convert cars. It was Mann & Overton who came up with constructing a purpose built taxi with bits from other vehicles, hence a kit car.

Surely in London any Licensed Taxi Driver should automatically be a Licensed Private Hire Driver?
This just shows up the idiocy of a two tier licensing system for two groups doing the same job in all but name.

The problems there are one can do the job properly the other cannot, one has done the knowledge the other has not
I can see how a green or yellow badge can and should be able to do both but not a PH

Could you replace ''can do the job properly' with ''has trained, studied, been tested and qualified''?

Don't mean to be sanctimonious but that IS the real difference.
Also we can speak English (and that includes Licensed Taxi Drivers not born in the UK).
