If you buy a product from a shop, and a guarantee is given by the manufacturer , and that product becomes faulty or is recalled you are entitled to a full refund of the purchase cost.
This also applies to any vehicle

I am not sure if this applies to product recalls. It is supposed to apply to faulty products but once you allow the manufacturer to make ANY repairs, I think you loose the right to a refund.
Who are the best people to advise on this? Is it the Office of Fair Trading?

You could try the OFT or trading standards or even your local citizens advice bureau.

The LTI statement does not identify the problem of what caused these fires therefore how can they say the vehicle is fit for purpose?

Hopefully organisations such as the LTDA will press for an answer to the point I raised and ask LTI for a specific answer to the actual cause of the problem? Without knowing the cause there can be no remedy therefore they cannot be fit for purpose and the PCO and the media should take that on board. I hope this Kennedy chap who writes in the local London newspaper takes on board all the implications surrounding this statement and what the LTI solution amounts to?

There needs to be a lot of internal and external discussion before any taxi organisation commits its members to this LTI un-guaranteed solution.

Regards

JD

To rebuild driver confidence in the TX4, LTI will also fit a fire suppression system.

I would imagine that will cost a bob or two.

But probably not enough to extinguish one of these fires?

I would start with your local Trading Standards, or I think they are now called Consumers Direct.

I think Consumer Direct is part of the OFT, although local trading standards offices may refer you to them. CD is essentially a telephone/internet based service, I think.

I would give CD a call or email them - they've probably been contacted already on the issue, so will no doubt have a stock reply at the ready

Might apply to a brand new vehicle, but not one several years old.
