The London cab trade need something to do on their day off, most people do the gardening.

As Diana Ross said "I'm still waiting"!

Did you use the LTDA email address or the new TFL one?

I suspect your e-mails are being spammed out.

we have nothing to hide.........the 6 monthly was introduced about 2 years ago under the last mayor as part of the change over to SGS from the PCO for our overhauls. Prior to that we only had 1 inspection a year and safety standards were as high then as they are now under twice yearly inspections.

Grandad, as i understand it, if the 6 monthly is abolished then it will only be replaced with increased spot checks at stations, feeder park etc or the occasional home visit which will no doubt help replenish the coffers of those you feel may be losing out; incidentally it won't half their losses as they were getting paid £38 (approx) for the mid-year inspection whereas now if the cab fails it's first inspection the owner will have to pay for any additional inspections as well as any further inspections brought about from the spot checks.

I personally would have preferred to have the mid year abolished and a return to the annual inspection with no additional spot checks, one could find himself having a spot check twice in a month and being failed both times on minor issues which would then mean more time off the road as well as a lot more expense. An exagerated example perhaps but not beyond the remit of the PCO/SGS.

How many staff carry out these spot checks?

It varies, sometimes you may find a lone PCO official at a station checking over any cab he chooses to stop other times there may be a few of them at the feeder park (Heathrow).

We have three council tests per annum in addition to the normal MOT. Certainly makes you keep on top of maintenance.

Any email sent to TFL from a personal email address gets through. Not sure about the set up at the LTDA, they probably spam out every email, never had a reply from any one there.

Although I dont put on at Heathrow I understand that CO's have been banned from the feeder park! have they changed that?

I've always had every E-mail answered that I've sent to the LTDA, but that's because I'm a paid member and I always include my membership number in the text.

I notice on your 'page' you claim the LTDA have no information on their site about the TX4. Clearly you have'nt been patient enough to allow the front page to load fully, then you would see the information on the TX4.

Perhaps you could amend the blog next time your on there. :?

No, your assumption is wrong again!
When, the article was published on my blog, 29th sept, the Crisis Information was not on the LTDA web site and so our article remains unedited.
However the story has moved on since then and I believe that most drivers have already acquired this info long before the LTDA posted it.
Bit like their paper two weeks behind the times.

never mind this boring stuff.
Have a look at Captain Taxi's post
Investors views on Manganese Bronze...
It seems that traders in the stock exchange were keeping an eye on us in the London black cab forum to find out if we would buy the new Merc or wait for an electric cab.
One cabbies wife was telling all her mates all about her husbands business. It takes a bit of reading but its all in there.
Fascinating stuff.
