Mr taxiCABman,
Don't worry mate, we can't all be perfect some of us can't spell. It don't matter as long as we can understand each other. I thought this was a forum not an English grammer test!

It dno't mtater waht ordre the lerttes' are in, If the Lsat one and the frist arte rgiht you can sitll raed the senetnce.

Mr Rambo,

It must be hard to cover the account work at the rates the company pay the driver when they can have easy pickings outside any night club or bar in the centre of town.
Steve Wright will be a major influence on TFL. But PHV drivers must remember he is there to stop the touting too.
It was his lobbying that has led to us both having a man on the board of TFL.

Mr acabbie,

Don't know if you worked last night but regent street looked like a giant car park for mini cabs. Both sides of the street in both bus lanes, it was ridicules and not a warden in site. Even the CCTV camera was pointing in the wrong direction, up Vigo Street.
Give them enough rope and their greed will hang them.
It was amazing though to see the Mini cabs double parked out side Tiger tiger. The police were there arresting a young girl who had assaulted the doorman. They handcuffed her and called for a transit van to take her to the nick. It treble parked, then they all got into their cars and drove off with not a single word to the touts.

Mr GBC,

I do apologise I will edit the post immediately

That is what i'd like to know. Also, if it is being implemented how many touts have now lost their licences ?

I'm sure we can we expect to see them parked up, touting the same places but without their green roundels and signed onto the benefits system............seems to have gone full circle for some of these muppets.

The one conviction and your out in now in force.

The PCO used to release the figures every so often, I know the LTDA are pushing for this to be released on a quarterly basis to show the levels of licenses being revoked as a deterrent to others.

The problem you have though, that regardless of the fact they're licensed Minicab drivers or unlicensed Minicab drivers, a fine or license suspension won't stop them going out touting.

As I've mooted many times before - One conviction - Car crushed - end off.
No one can afford to keep replacing their cars and as the amount that are willing to take the risk declines, touting will cure itself within a short period.

The City of London (For those outside of London this is a geographical area in the financial heart of London with it's own authority and Police force) is becoming an open shop for touts despite recent attempts by the C.O.L.P to quell the problem.

Has anyone investigated or even considered the link between the organised, high vised clip board men and NCP who run most of the capitals CEO's (traffic Wardens)?
Similar Jackets,
Similar Management structure,
Similar objectives?

Same company?

agree with you there GBC, it would be great to actually see some vehicles being confiscated and crushed but no doubt some liberal muppet will come along and quote the human rights act..........

'3 times and out' for illegal touting
MINICAB drivers who illegally tout for business on streets could lose their licences after being caught three times.

The proposals by the London Assembly are being discussed to clamp down on the growing trade on South London's kerbs.

Clapham High Street and New Cross Road in Lewisham have been named as two of the worst hot spots in the capital for illegal touting.

Licensed black cabs are only allowed to pick passengers up off the street without a pre-arranged booking.

Transport bosses say not everyone knows that the practice is against the law and it increases the risk of cab-related sexual offences taking place.

Assembly member Peter Hulme Cross said: "Around 1.4million journeys are made every week in London's minicabs. If the minicab is not pre-booked, it is not insured to carry passengers, and it is much more difficult to detect offenders if a crime is committed. Good progress has been made in tackling touting. Arrests and convictions have consistently increased and, according to surveys, the numbers of people making illegal late-night journeys and being approached by touts has steadily fallen.

"However, it is still a widespread problem.

"Licensed drivers, as well as private individuals, are touting: around half of all those convicted of touting offences hold a private hire licence. Revoking the licences of repeat offenders would send a clear signal to drivers that touting is unacceptable."

Mr Rambo has contributed to this site for a long time, he's more than welcome to be on here.
He holds a similar view, as do most folks on here, about our touting friends.

TDO is'nt restricted to London Cabbies, in fact we're quite a minority amoungst the yokels, reivers and sheep shaggers on here.

The new law came into affect on 1st of october I think. I will let you know what happens.
