Yes it does on the right hand side from top to bottom,
find a modern map of the city and over lay it its near as dam it exactly as it is now

There is only 1 road down from the castle and thats the royal mile,
look at this map and you will see that there is not a lot of difference

After 6 years in the Army you soon learn to read a map right, as folks lives depend on it the A to Z is like reading the Beano
