Good morning,

This e-mail is to notify you that O2 will be carrying out maintenance on parts of the GSM and GPRS network between 18/10/08 at 22:00 and 19/10/08 to 06:00.

This will result in the loss of GSM and GPRS services to cells for up to 4 hours in the following locations: North Lanarkshire, East Dunbartonshire and Clackmannanshire.

A full list of postcodes which will be affected is detailed in the attached document.

If you have any queries relating to the maintenance event, please contact Customer Services on the usual telephone number, quoting Change Control Record 1460058

Any questions from your GPRS users must be directed initially to your own internal help-desk.O2 apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
It is O2’s policy to inform customers of the GSM and GPRS Bearer Services of planned and unplanned network outages to nominated contacts appointed by the customer. If you are no longer the appropriate contact for your company, or your contact details are changing, please reply to this e-mail with new contact details. O2 thanks you for your cooperation.

We have users on all the networks and I reckon most have experienced a reduced service at some point. Trouble is that as more people move in this direction, the network providers need to upgrade their systems to cope with the demand and while they’re doing this, they often run very slowly or even go off completely.

But as the sayin goes, you can't make cakes without breaking a few eggs in the process!

I think the ideal situation for anybody would be a pda or data unit running on gprs with pmr fall back or the other way around but not many companies av that capability within their system but as a loss of service with your landlines or gprs connection at least you av a chance of falling back to 1

They moved us onto Orange after some major issues with O2, the downtime with Orange is no where near as much as it was with O2.
