Man abused taxi drivers

UP to ten taxis surrounded two young people on an isolated country road near Ipswich after a girl was sick on her way home from the town, a court has heard. Robert Hurrell was unable to pay the £60 cleaning bill after his sister was sick in a taxi.

The taxi dropped them in Bucklesham Road near Trinity Park and Hurrell gave the driver his last £20, South East Suffolk Magistrates' Court heard. Hurrell, of Bucklesham Road, Kirton, telephoned his mother who drove to pick up her children dressed in just her pyjamas.

Robert Barnwell prosecuting said when she arrived they were surrounded by up to ten taxis. Mr Barnwell said Hurrell spat in the face of one of the drivers and was racially abusive towards him. Hurrell, who works for Intelligent Heating Services, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated common assault.

Diana Infanti, mitigating, said her client suffered with ADHD and became “agitated” by the situation. She added that he had apologised and his mother had gone to the taxi rank the following day to pay the cleaning bill. Mrs Infanti said: “He knows drinking does not help his condition and he is working hard to stay off drink.”

District Judge David Cooper said: “Taxi drivers have so much to put up with, with these wretched youths.” He said to 20-year-old Hurrell: “You were racially abusive to another man just because of the colour of his skin and just because he came from another country.”

Hurrell was placed on a 9pm to 7am curfew for four months. He was ordered to pay £250 compensation to the taxi driver he abused and £60 towards court costs.

Could you imagine using that excuse as to why you were abusive to a customer, I think NOT. Whilst I'm sure there are some genuine cases of ADHD mostly it's just the excuse for BAD PARENTING

My son has ADHD and its not bad parenting, I know we have to live with the symptoms day after day, and if it where not for Ritalin and concerta, class A drugs i would not be able to work and would have to help my wife cope with him

Sorry Skippy but I did say that whilst there are some genuine cases it is used a lot as an excuse for a childs bad behaviour by parents who either have no control or no interest in how their child behaves. As a parent of a genuine sufferer this must surely annoy you that people do it. It annoys me that people do it all the time and my kids thankly don't have ADHD. So there is no offence meant and I am sorry if you misread my earlier comments I have no desire to upset anybody with regards to their children

No its only racial abuse if it is a white person being abusive to a non white person or at least according to lincolnshire police it is !
