Just as a matter of interest does the council have an emissions policy for its own vehicles or does this policy only apply to hackney carriage and private hire vehicles?

Has anyone ever been minded to ask the council for their official research finding of what effect a reduction from emission 4 to 3 category by these 100 hacks, will have on the local environment? Or how many councils vehicles don't conform to emmision 3 standard. Anyone care to ask how many thousands of vehicles travel through York everyday?

I don't believe that compulsory reduction to level 3 emissions will make any difference considering the small number of vehicles involved. Therefore the request might be reasonable and lawful but is it neccessary when you consider the same can be achieved by natural wastage if the council has a renewable age policy.

Regards

JD

All JD is doing is raising questions skip.......something we'll all have to do as and when these daft ideas reach our areas.

The above aside, I would tend to think the York Trade are maybe aware that the Euro Compliance isn't going to devastate the trade to so much of a degree.....as someone has already pointed out, Euro 3 isn't too arduous.

ref "Euro4", is it applicable to petrol and diesel?

if not, arent diesel owners being discriminated against?

Emission standards for passenger cars

Since the Euro 2 stage, EU regulations introduce different emission limits for diesel and gasoline vehicles.

Diesels have more stringent CO standards but are allowed higher NOx emissions.
Gasoline-powered vehicles are exempted from particulate matter (PM) standards through the Euro 4 stage, but vehicles with direct injection engines will be subject to a limit of 0.005 g/km for Euro 5 and Euro 6.

So, what happens when the LA wants to adopt Euro 5 (then 6) as the required level?

Seem's to me that taxis are being used. again. for a political purpose.

Now which court case said something about 'ulterior motives'?

check out durham case ref colour coding best way is go to northern echo then archives type in adrian fets this brings up all the reports on it durham council lost 20 grand fighting this in high court i am going through the same thing at the mo with our council i emailed the case to all the licensing councillors 2 days before it went to the committee they had a miraculous change of heart and deferred it for further consultation "becuase we don't wanna make the same mistakes as durham" but the judge in durham case said it is not reasonably necessary for a taxi to be a certain colour they already have enough distinctive signage what you need to do is get at the committee directly cos i found the l/o will tell them only what he wants them to hear ref the euro emmissions have you found out what the cars are classed as now becuase london have not included cars in the lez and those robbing gits would nick your last pound if they could

My TX2 does'nt have a fire problem, not that I'm aware of?
Perhaps you could enlighten me with your technical knowledge of the Ford engine?

I don't have to work hard Mr Jogra, I earn a bomb in my chosen licensing area.

It's all about planning, choice and location, and not killing yourself by working 24/7 in a bad area.

Advice is great, providing it's correct, not misleading or inaccurate, otherwise we could all claim to be 'taxi' experts, when in fact this is limited to about 8 contributers on here, one of which is'nt me.

Yeah.

it is believed that the case was put on hold until Feb 09

magistrates thought it was fair, the judge thought there was a case and needed a full day to deal with the issues, council brought a brief, the taxi driver was told to get a "brief"

may have got some off this wromg but the basics are there

Yes correct, case adjourned till 12th February 2009, so a full day can be had for the case. Didn't go ahead yesterday as by the time the case started....2.30pm, not enough time to hear it all. Mr Browne advised to get legal advice and representation.

Can't all the owners who support what he's trying to do chip in for a brief?

I would be getting hold of previous successful cases and trying to find a no win no fee brief

If I had a penny for every time that happens, I would be on a par with Mr T.
