I lived nearby for a few years, Craigour Drive to be precise, but half my relatives came from Craigmillar, and they were not low lifes.
During the mid to late 70's the area went downhill, hence the reason it was flattened and rebuilt.

Quite what its like nowadays . . . well I can't answer that one, all the old relatives have now departed this world and I've no reason to visit there now.

It is interesting to see some of the old pre-fabs from my old manor still standing though, and with some pride!

Craigour Drive, is, upper Craigmillar, and as for your relatives they've been ethnically cleansed. Craigmillar is nothing more than a social engineering project. There's not much left of the place.

The wrong side of the hill to the parliament GBC, the new flats cost upward of 130K each, and somehow I don't think they're building them for the locals.

In a few years nothing will remain, the community or what's left of it will be gone forever . . . .

I thought Craig Millar was a fabricated name for a bakery well it used to be until they renamed it. Didn't know it was actually the name of a place, wow you learn something new every day :D

That used to be a caravan park.

Look at it now, as Skull says the 'social experiment' continues.
