Taxi firm worker denies 'mace' attack

A TAXI firm operator from Redhill has appeared in court charged with assaulting a pair of customers with a makeshift mace.

Michael Simon Green, of Wordsworth Mead, appeared at South East Surrey Magistrates’ Court on Friday accused of two counts of actual bodily harm and one of possession of an offensive weapon.

The 21-year-old is alleged to have used a baseball bat, which had metal nails inserted into the wood, to assault two male customers outside the Redhill cab firm he works for in the early hours of December 13.

His case was deemed too serious to be dealt with by magistrates and was adjourned so a date could be fixed for a crown court trial.

Green, who denies all three charges, was released on unconditional bail to return to the court for committal proceedings on February 20.
