Maybe with hindsight the woman has decided that the £50 charge considering the car allegedly had to be taken off the road was a reasonable charge for getting her child to the hospital quickly. Next time she might not be able to get a taxi.

It's obvious to me that the lady in question tried to get some commonsense from the company.... and was ignored, then tried the council who probably said that there was nothing they could do, the legal route financially is not a option( I would think) . so decided to pay the company back with some bad publicity, she won't use them again and neither will her friends and relations and probably a few that have read the article, it certainly stirred debate... I think she's probably got her money's worth.....

Although I have only had to use them once or twice I always carry a couple of plastic carrier bags just incase I can't stop in time for them to get out of the car. I'd rather them be sick in the bag than the car, at least you can carry on working.

TIP

Always make sure the carrier bag has no holes in it
:D :D :D :D

I take it none of you have kids of your own or you would know what its like when they are ill, or need to get to a hospital quickly
If that company goes to the wall it will be there own fault and I hope they do for being greedy callous Bar-stewards

When I first started this job, a woman over the road from where i lived came over and asked me if I could get her 4 year old daughter to hospital quickly as she had some how grabbed a pan of boiling water and it had gone all over her arm
I soaked some towels in cold water and wrapped then around her and sped of to the Peel hospital 7 miles away got her there but as they went in the traffic police turn up behind me and where going to book me for speeding I told them to feck off as it was an emergency and to go and check, one did and came out and was sick after seeing her, they then changed there tune and said well done I said you had better get a faster car as your is cr@p to them ,and they said that they had one on order as they could not catch me in my Hillman Hunter estate.
Oh I did not charge the mother either but she has never forgotten and uses me all the time even her daughter now in her 20s uses me and the rest of the family

Emergencies are dealt with by Ambulances, not Taxis.

You're lucky they never threw the book at you, no matter how legitimate your reason was.

That's why Ambulances have trained drivers/paramedics, Blue lights and sirens.

GBC I thought you would have more sense, coming from this area You know where Langlee is and where the Peel was, it would have taken the ambulance at least 10 mins to get to the girl I was at the Peel in less than 15 mins, and my actions saved her from permanent scaring

I wasn’t referring to outpatients or non urgent hospital journeys, I was talking about people phoning 999 in an emergency situation, instead of risking everyone else’s life’s by driving at high speed in a normal car with an untrained driver.

Little Tommy’s burns may well have been sore, but the pedestrian or other innocent road user who is decapitated or maimed for life will be in even more pain, and if the untrained driver kills someone, them it’s goodnight Vienna.

Metrocab / Stig test pilot or not.

If it was a full thickness burn, it would'nt have mattered if you were in A&E when it happened, the tissues fooked straight away, damage done.

If it was a secondary or superficial burn, water application would have been suffice for 10 mins until professional help got there, it is'nt worth the risk, it's of no use to anyone if people crash (and they do) whilst playing at emergency vehicles.

Well at least the subject fostered some stimulating debate but the most fascinating thing to come out of all this, is my discovery that councils have no legal power to place a soiling notice on a fare chart. I suppose our friend in cheltenham is blissfully unaware of the fame that is about to come his way.

Regards

That's a good point and you get a bill from the hospital or doctor as well.
