I know a man who knows a man who works on the production company.

He tells me that there is more than one 'stig'. Clarkson came up with idea when he realised that any 'known' driver would be able to hold him to ransom for more money once established. So Clarkson decided the Stig should be annonymous so that he could change him with folks knowing and leave more money in Jeremy's pockets instead.

There has supposedly been 4 stigs I think the first series that the stig appeared was alleged to have been Nigel Mansell ! and at one point the stig was a black driver but I think they like to change them regularly and I'm sure there will be another new one the next series
