Well if it's not enough that we have to contend with HC's on our PH system paying less radio settle than we do and taking a large chunk of our work I think they've got a damn cheek when they come barging into the office and complain that they have had no shows. All I have to say is 'welcome to the world of private hire'. They don't seem to mind when a booked PH turns up at a pub and they've just drove off with the fare, cos they can. Anyway out of idle curiosity how many HC's on here work PH systems as well or is it something that seems to only occur here. I don't mean those that take private hire bookings for themselves I'm curious as to how many work on the bigger systems

I believe that is how it should be. I mean that's how it used to be until we were de-regulated or de-limited or whatever you want to call it. Then all the PH drivers that thought it was a good idea got themselves a HC they can't make their money so they are back on PH but in a HC instead of working a radio system exclusively for HCs and they wonder why we think they're greedy barstewards

I would say that in Sussex 95% of radio firms have hackneys on.

All I can say is welcome to the world of de-limitation...

I am HC and I work on a PH circuit and pay 1/2 the amount of settle that the PH pay but then I probably do less than half the amount of PH work that the others do. There are 5 or 6 others who do the same on the same PH radio circuit as I am on too.

Cos a lot of my work is off the ranks/street, I use my PH radio to bring me back into town or when the ranks are full.

im suprised a base let you have a radio at half price when you can also sit on a rank which a PH cant do, to make up income when times are lean, and take flag downs.

1 car 1 radio 1 price

it was also always reckoned that if you have 5 cars on a circuit its cheaper to get your own base....
