and how many wheelchair jobs per week, on average have you had by spending £27K on a WAV?

I must be missing something here, what difference does how many wheelchair jobs I have done make ?? as it happens I have done about 5 since august and those have been from ranks. It is only recently we have had WAV`s on PH circuits so wheelchair work has historically gone to HC

I do however get a lot of 5,6,and 7 seater jobs from the circuit which are priced at fare + 1/2 the PH rate.

7? since august? £27,000 for a WAV?....

im glad your happy cos i wouldnt be

Are you allowed to charge at PH rate or are you supposed to charge the cheapest rate which should be HC rate for 5,6 & 7 seater work. I know that is the case here cos some of the HC are now complaining because they don't get as much for the 5,6 & 7 seater work as the PH who can do the same job would get and our LA are quite strict about this. Essentialy you are a HC therefore you have to charge according to you LA rates or if PH the lower of the two cos you can't charge above HC cos of the LA and you can't charge above PH rate cos both would imply over charging

OK I still feel like I am missing something here, by buying a WAV I get to use the ranks and pick up on the streets HC meter rates work out at approx £2 per mile at night (I only work nights)

PH rates work out approx £1.40 per mile at any time.

So yes I am happy !!!

Here a 5 mile job for for 5,6 & 7 seats would be fare and half. At our rates thats 12.00 at HC of £2 per mile would be £10 so which rate would you charge.

I can only charge what is on the meter or less.
So if I do a 6 seater job for PH @£1.40 per mile x fare + 1/2 it works out roughly the same as the meter.
The only time the I lose out is if I do a PH job with 5 people as there is a £3 surcharge on the meter for more than 5 people.
Also most of the 5,6,7 seat jobs I do for the PH are out of area and quoted and paid for beforehand.

the meter is the HIGHEST you may charge, not the lowest...

Yeah, but if he's on a PH circuit he's got to charge PH rates (provided they are not more than the HC ones)?

im suprised a base let you have a radio at half price when you can also sit on a rank which a PH cant do, to make up income when times are lean, and take flag downs.

1 car 1 radio 1 price

I couldn't agree more.

If you are on a circuit you should pay the same as the next person.
