I understand Airportcarz will no longer be contracted to Manchester Airport after the 31st January 2009, or at least very soon after that date. It is my understanding that a somewhat unknown private hire company with offices less than a mile from the Aiport is trying to secure a contract with the Airport to provide a private hire service. I am informed the contract is more or less agreed except for an airport condition to set some of the prices.

I am also told that the vehicles and drivers are licensed in Berwick.

Regards

JD

Until the amalgamation what happens after is anyone's guess at the moment

Mind you if Berwick continue to be able to licence, the whole of the UK could be done by them and that will teach some of those greedy councils a lesson

I suppose anything has got to be an improvement on the unlicensed drivers of the Manchester Airportcarz buses, but Berwick PH.

I suspect it will be rolled out as being a fine and dandy operation, but methinks it will be just another version of the Limo self-drive scam.

Pseudo legal until they get lazy and cut corners. :-$

I believe the vehicles are hackney carriage licensed. I suppose the bottom line is that if they are run according to the law then no one can have any complaints.

I think this might be the outfit.

Someone has informed me that pcslimos is trying to recruit drivers currently working for Airportcarz. I wonder if Berwick will find a way off extending their new licensing criteria to include driver license applications?

If this outfit is licensed in Berwick then they better get their full compliment of berwick licensed vehicles organised before the new licensing policy kicks in.

But isn't the reason why many, or maybe just a few, drivers on Airportcarz at Manchester Airport worked there is because they didn't need a PH/PSV/HC license to drive those buses?

Be interesting to see what comes back on their CRBs. :-k

I suspect pcslimmos will assist with license applications.

I wonder how much they are paying Manchester Airport for their amenities? Airportcarz paid a pretty penny for the privilege but I'm wondering just what amenities will be provided for this new outfit? If its not an all hack operation under the pre booking process then they might have a few licensing problems?

Does anyone know anything about this firm because if they are operating an executive service unlicensed then they are breaking the law? However I doubt this company would be that stupid.

I think prior to Jan 2008 they operated via the 75 exemption, but I'm pretty certain they are fully licensed now. In Berwick.

Says nothing about licenses on their website, I'm wondering why not? Do you think they still might operate one or two unlicensed vehicles?

Its been rumoured a waiting area for three cabs is being set aside for this new outfit, It better not be in close proximity to the public because airport byelaws wont save them from prosecution for plying for hire.

I see this website is listed as being from London, so clearly they must have a London ops license.

Let's for argument sake say that they are in London and they also operate private hire vehicles in Berwick the London operator takes the call and transfers it to Berwick who would then have to contact the driver direct because they can't redirect the call to an office in manchester. Alternately using all hackney carriage vehicles they would need none of that.

They could have a freephone installed in the Airport terminal going to Berwick but then they would have to contact the private hire cars direct from Berwick. There is no way that the Manchester office can come into play if private hire vehicles are used.
