Seems our lovely LA are stipulating from April all vehicles must comply to this.

Is it really low or would your Ford engined Metro's and Nissan Fairways go through without modification?

That's this year, next year is even more strict.

Quote:
All vehicles must comply with Euro II standard technology for emissions. Vehicles
manufactured before the introduction of that standard, must be able to demonstrate that
they have undergone such conversion to ensure compliance with that minimum standard
All vehicles must comply with the following emission standards as a minimum requirement
for licensing purposes
Vehicles licensed after the 1st April 2009 must comply with Euro II
technology standards.
Vehicles licensed after the 1st April 2010 must comply with Euro III
technology standards
Vehicles licensed after the 1st April 2012 must comply with Euro IV
technology standards.

By the time the get to: technology standards.Vehicles licensed after the 1st April 2020 must comply with Euro XXIV technology standards..... cars will be allowed to run on thin air with zero emissions only...provided the Planet has'nt Cooked itself first or we've driven ourselves back into the stone age...

We in London went through this bulls**t a few years back when that communist lunatic we had for a mayor decided we all had to be Euro 3 compliant! They generously gave us 20p on each fare for about 3 years to recoup our costs but we still had to find £2000 initially to have an exhaust system fitted that brought us up the the Euro standard!

It didn't seem to make any real World difference to the amount of emissions i kicked out as the readings before and after fitting were negligable; i lost power, is noisier and it kicks out more smoke now than it ever did!

Far better in my opinion would have been to put the responsibility onto the manufacturers to produce vehicles with higher Euro standards and leave the exisiting vehicles as they were; they could have suggested that a vehicle within Euro 1 or 2 could have a life cycle of say 15 years and then after that would have to come off the road.

Drivers woudn't have had to find £2000 and could have begun budgeting for a newer vehicle, also this would have the secondary effect of replacing the whole fleet of London taxis with moderately newer vehicles which i'm sure GBC would agree on wouldn't have been a bad thing as he rightly puts it there are some right carts out there!

Still, for £2k i got a shiny new stainless steel exhaust system which makes my TX1 sound like a tractor........or worse; a TX2!!!!!!

I agree with acabbie.
Get your LA to learn from London.
Don't spend £2,000 plus on an emission system with dubious benefits. That money would be better spent on replacing vehicles.
One of the reasons we have old vehicles in London is having spent £2,000,you want to get a return.
Emissions can improve with regular servicing and the changing of air,oil and fuel filters.Cleaning the injectors help.
Many drivers with the emissions systems add additives for the emission test before testing. This shows what a failure Livingstone's emissions plan is.
By the way,is the 20p Livingstone charge still part of the tariff?

As I predicted on here a few years ago, when London sneezes . . . . .

Watch it spread.

There was no Fairways or early TX1's that met the Euro 2 standard.

So, to re-open this topic.

How compliant are TTT's? Euro 3? 4?

From what age are "Eurocabs" 4 compliant.

I know the TX4 meets Euro4 but what about the other cabs?

Probably about 80%+ of the trade here runs cabs older than 56 so that's alot of cabs that need updating if it's only TX4's and new Euro's that are compliant.

Can't believe our loony LA are being more stringent than London.

Anyway, could someone possibly point me to a list or breakdown of how compliant all vehicles are.
