Other features likely to be part of Cardiff's gold-star cabbie scheme include prime cab stands only for accredited drivers.

In Basildon, drivers taking part in the Quality Taxi Partnership have to promise to be punctual, display a fare chart, charge fares at an agreed price, help passengers with mobility needs and maintain their cars to a high level inside and out.

Are these not already a requirement of the job :?

I have held the view for a long time that it is their own system ( giving practically anyone a badge) and thus in doing so gives the trade a bad name - they have now got to do this and no doubt it will be the drivers who have to pay to get this "qualification" whether it is giving their time or actually paying to do it in order to clean up their mess.

If the above was implemented in London, I'd probably have a platinum star.
