Dare I ask apart from the obvious illegality of the above rules, whats the quality control like in Stockport?

There are no quality controls at all. One eyed Scottish geniuses are welcomed as well.

This gives some idea

Stockport says it has seen no appreciable increase, with a steady flow of applications for private hire licences. But it says there has been a three-fold increase since 1992.

It is expecting a wave of over 3000 applications if the council delimit on the 11th February 2009.
A council spokesman explained " if the council remove it's current restriction on taxi licenses we are prepared to test 150 vehicles a day at our state of the art testing station" he then went on to say " 45 new licensing officers will be on standby to process the Hackney carriage driver applications. Currently the test takes about four minutes"
A local taxi garage owner Mr Vaxxx has acquired around 700 world war one taxis ready to hit the towns bustling taxi ranks. A passenger was spotted loitering nearby last Wednesday.
The manager of "dial a shed" in Manchester has said he is ordering thousands of radios for the new cabbies to use on his busy central Manchester circuit.
The new Stockport fleet will be located right across Greater Manchester and beyond.
Ranjeet Singh said "I really can't wait to get my new cab. I have saved up for two weeks for it. It has a two day warranty so I hope it will be reliable. I have never been to Stockport before so I hope my sat nav works. My brother has worked for big firm Linuxx and he earnt £16.10 last week after his fuel. I hope I can be as lucky"

So there's no quality control in respect of the vehicle, however, is the drivers badge is somewhat harder to achieve?

Hiya Everybody.
First time poster so forgive me if I feck up. I have read the site for years but never get involved because:
(a) I am to computers as Cyril Smith is to hang gliding and Charles is to coherant speech
(b) I am either working, sleeping or shagging when you guys are on this site
and
(c) I can fall out and argue in an empty room let alone a chat room.

But I felt I had to post something........
