Sat Morning 2.00 AM

Busy rank, I'm second cab punter is at window of cab in front of me as girl gets into my cab as I pull away I notice that cab in front is empty..... It happens.

Thing is as I.m passing I wind down the window and say to the driver something like, "Sorry mate she's already in" The driver gives me a dirty look.

Now as far as I'm concerned when it's busy there is no point in turfing the punter out. I seriously doubt if the driver in front had to wait more than a couple of mins for the next fare. On a quiet afternoon it may have been different.

What do others think?

No you was not in the wrong, if a punter comes to your cab your free to take them .
A punter can take any cab from any rank regardless, of if you have an agreement between drivers and you dont have to say sorry or stop to let the front one know.
Is in your rule book BTW

No, seriously, thats life it happens sometimes, its the same as driving up a wide one way system such as Tottenham Court Road or St James, sometimes two or three Taxis are 'first' depending on what side of the road the hand goes up on.

If the driver behind is a Silverback, you may take some grunts or 'know what I means'

I was told a long time ago by our L.O when we had one that it is a consumers right to be able to choose which cab they get into not be forced to take the front cab. as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I was front rank for over an hour one afternoon and counted 17 fares in a row getting into the second rank cabs there is nothing I can do if the customers don't choose my vehicle theres nothing I can do but sit and hope one eventually does

and its just the same a malaga airport, where the front of the rank is not level with the arrivals exit, its a walk of about 50 yards to the front, then again they are in 3 rows and sometimes cant get out...

Thats why the law needs changed, every taxi in its own area is the same price so why should the punters be able to pick and choose.
What are the unions doing about it absolutely feck all.
every driver on a rank should be able to make a living fairly and that is punters must always use the first cab

So whats the modern version as it says F2 was repealed in 1976

er, because they are paying maybe?

no way, the punter MUST have the choice, do you have a choice between macydees and burger king? B&Q or Homebase? personally id be very hacked off to be told i MUST take any particular rank car, front or back of the queue

So wanabee, your at the front of a rank and you stay there for over an hour while the cabs behind you pick up, some of them 5 or 6 times what would you be feeling then, you charge the same price and your licenced by the same council you have the right to make a living,
This law needs changed asap
