i cannot believe that any ranked HC honestly expects that being at the front secures the next job, ive lost count how many times i had waited to get to the front only for the base op to call "next on the rank, please go to....."

Are they all ignorant in Lichfield or just you?
BTW if your office does this to you, that's your choice to have an office.
Up here, the base op asks where you are on the rank before pulling you off. First 3 places usually get the choice to stay on the rank if another cab is available. Also jobs are allocated based on where you are on the office's sheet, not your rank position.

Maybe GBC is right about you.

No, his way would have prevented any ill feeling.

If you don't understand the difference, you are not a cabby.

1. depends how you calculate ignorance, i dont do blind faith and "sheep to be led"

2. ive been on 3 circuits where refusing a base ops commands could result in being in the headmasters study, despite HIS cars being "FTF"

obviously im not a cabby, I wouldnt wanna be either after reading some posts on here, though i may do a few flagdowns to see how it feels....

No, you prefer "I'm all right and f*ck the rest of you"

Your choice to work there. Not happy? - leave.

The original question was

can a punter get in any cab on a rank

and the answer must be "yes"

"Etiquette Was I in the wrong?"

Wannabeahack, you keep babblin about your base keeping on pulling you off a rank, what the hell does that have to do with a punter getting in the cab where they want?

You want to work an office that's your choice.

Majority of hacks down here, probably 75-80% are totally independant and have no office. The first car "rule" works down here just like many other civilised districts.

And as far as the punter refusing to get out, believe me, they soon get out when you say to them that they'll need to sit in the car until you're next car out.

FFS, it's manners and common courtesy and as long as every driver follows the same etiquette than there is rarely ever an issue.

I can just imagine you going into a shop or takeaway or something and standing at the end of the line expecting to be served first.

how is that anything to do with it?

juxtapose the high street and a row of chipshops, does a customer have to use any particular one? course not

and a punter on a rank can choose, anyone who thinks different isnt on this planet, I for one would object if I was told to get out the one I wanted and walk to the front, fck em, its my money and ill spend it how and where i want

We have a number of HC companies in the borough, so customers will go to their favourite company frequently.

Thankfully, we are the 'favouritist' company in the borough!! 8)

Like I said, you'd be sitting in my cab all the way to the front.

You obviously have your opinion on the matter whereby you are in a small minority unfotunately.
