No he didn't quite just say that. If I could retrieve the appropriate quotes I would do but I can't, so you will have to re-read his posts. But basically he is very worried about other people getting a plate 'cos it might affect his living. I think I have covered the main thrust of his argument

Do I have to check back?

Yep, it would appear JD has concern about the standards attached to Stockports vehicles should the council decide to deregulate.

Again......and I know this would have gone against the grain a few months ago....and to a certain degree doesnt sit right considering our 'previous'......he does consistently cite 'quality controls'

Nothing wrong with quality controls. But people who are against deregulation until... for instance..... they get a free plate or for some other self interest reason that would be soooooooooo wrong. And the taxi trade is soooooooo full of people who are comrades in arms until they have a change in circumstance.

I just wanted to be re-assured that this was not one of those occasions...

War makes strange bedfellows.....Churchill said that didnt he.

or perhaps my favourite;

If Hitler invaded hell I would make at least a favorable reference to the devil in the House of Commons.

I've stayed quiet as long as I can and I'd love to come up with something witty to reply but my head hurts now too much gone wrong already. Out of curiosity (which is a real downfall that I can't control) but will he won't he what :?

Back on topic...

Quote:
Stockport Council have confirmed that they are to honour the decision made at the meeting on 11th Feb 2009. However, they have decided not to undertake the issue of any new licences within the next 14 days. They have agreed that if SODA issue an applcation for a Judicial Review within the 14 day window, then the Council will undertake not to issue any New licences pending the outcome of that application.
