Pembre taxi horn nightmare

Pembrokeshire County Councillors are telling taxi drivers silence is golden and urging them to silence their horns.

Councillors have been inundated with complaints from residents about taxis sounding their horns while picking up fares.

Now members of the local authority are calling on the taxi drivers and private hire vehicle drivers to show some consideration and not use their horns unless it is an emergency.

"Throughout the County taxi drivers incessantly sound their vehicle's horns outside houses and pubs rather than get out of the car and knock on the front door, or go inside to find the fare," said Councillor Rosalie Lilwall, from Pembroke.

"It's a constant source of irritation to many and can be a real problem when residents have young children.

"I would appeal to drivers to show some consideration to others and not use their horns unless absolutely necessary."

Perhaps if people were actually outside when the taxi turned up at the pub they wouldn't have to beep. I can understand them asking drivers to knock on doors but go in pubs.

Customer service which includes not upsetting neighbouring potential customers, IMHO.

And getting beaten up.....possibly annoying the people you were sent for in the first place

TBH I can't remember the last time I beeped my horn, it kinda makes me tootless

OK, I may be in a different area but I don't have a problem with going into any pub around here to 'turf' somebody out; And neither would most of our 'non-male' drivers.

Some of the places I've ended up I dont think getting out of the cab is an option.....but I dont blow the horn and wait for 5 mins then drive away.

Hmmmm lets see Is it eaiser for me to find my fare amoungst a pub full of punters or is it easier for the punter to spot the car outside with TAXI on it in big letters.

I give them 5 mins (with the meter running) then pull off. I don't do cash radio jobs anyway so I'm getting paid.
