You have more faith than I do. They just don't seem to care what they do or if they get caught. There are no consquences to their actions. I am however very glad that you are ok for the ordeal and that is the most important thing. Perhaps I'm a little cynical but if somebody is determined it isn't going to stop them and whilst I am 100% behind measures that makes security for taxi drivers a little better it is and will remain a very dodgy business to have to earn a living in. CCTV is a deterrent against oportunists but not against the determined

I agree but trust me it makes you and your passengers feel as safe as you can be considering the job we do.

Yes, no system is foolproof. The best we can do is the best we can do.

And the best we can do is as I've described above.

Just like the best the council can do on a taxi demand and supply situation is to allow the market itself to decide the service provision level. Only if that proves inadequate should they then become involved to boost numbers, by reducing licence fees, encouraging entry to the trade etc.

Anything short of the best they can do leaves local authorities open to a justifiable charge that they are not doing everything the can to meet public need.

Simple as.

never miss a chance do you jasbar tell me did the council reply to your letter or could we call it a rant no point in emailing them these days is there

delimitation in Dundee hasn’t solved any problems it has just created taxi operators working longer than it is safe for the public in Dundee there is as many licenses returned now that is issued and every op keeps shouting when are they going to shut the door and when they do or if they do eventually close the door there will be someone on the side lines shouting I want a license even when our door has been open for ten years!!

That's why you need stringent quality controls.
