OK, make the cars £100 a week with insurance and radio included, but will that cover what you want to make, more importantly, is Lincoln needing the service? (i.e. can the cars make a profit)

a simple "renting" agreement means they hirer can walk away if it gets to the point stacking shelves in Asda is worth more, leaving the base with a spare car sitting idle

if its that good an earner, why not PAYE a driver and keep all the takings?, national minimum wage is £5.80/hr? so over £15/hr is all yours, clear profit....

I dont actually agree.

I think you'll find the driver will walk away for numerous reasons and the owner is often left to pick up the tab.

Owner/drivers who have an equal share and, therefore, say in running the company. Most input some time on a voluntary basis. All have an interest in the health of the company and serve the customer accordingly.

We have been the largest in the borough for many years and continue to grow and evolve. None of us will get rich but we'll all make a good living. It's tetchy at times but it works and we have the smartest fleet in town.

Very similar. 'Radio fees' are paid to cover the cost of premises, staff, equipment, etc. We don't make a profit, so there's no distribution to the shareholders, ergo, no tax to pay.

Id guess, assuming a radio at £60 per week, Insurance at £50 and a car at £150-£200 that the hirer will need to take £500-£600 to see any profit allowing for tyres, fuel, servicing, etc.

but its not what id want to attempt

who is going to plate the vehicles, the owner or the hirer?

Try reading my original and second post on this thread again and you'll see that i'm asking for suggestions on what deal you the drivers like....not how much debt i can get you into.

ok, so stop fishing and put a figure on whatever service options you want to supply then

a new 08 reg D4D Avensis, radio, fully insured/plated and serviced for £300 a week or a 2005 modeo Tdci for £150 plus radio plus insurance (like the one or 3 youve got parked round the back spare)

I believe he is asking for sensible suggestions to the age old problem of supplying vehicles to drivers.
