ok, so stop fishing and put a figure on whatever service options you want to supply then

a new 08 reg D4D Avensis, radio, fully insured/plated and serviced for £300 a week or a 2005 modeo Tdci for £150 plus radio plus insurance (like the one or 3 youve got parked round the back spare)

Not fishing at all just looking for suggestions from sensible, experienced drivers.

I don't own any cars at the moment (even for private use) i use taxi's! So don't know what you mean about the 1 or 3 spare cars parked round the back.

I recommend you see a therapist regarding your bitterness towards operators, your mental health will suffer otherwise.

We have been the largest in the borough for many years and continue to grow and evolve. None of us will get rich but we'll all make a good living. It's tetchy at times but it works and we have the smartest fleet in town.

I'm the MD of a limited company that operates private hire vehicles, a company that i started after following in the foot steps of my father and grand father who were both taxi drivers before me. I took the plunge 20 years ago, and have run my own ph business for the last 18 years. We started up from a council house with less than £500 in the bank, last year our turnover was more than £4 million in taxi fares.

So after 20 years in the bussiness, you still don't know what drivers want. Have you tried asking your own drivers?

Providing you make sure you know what you are getting into, if you get "done up like a kipper", you have no one to blame but yourself.
There's a world of difference between covering your costs, with a small commission and stitching someone up.
Every driver has to do the maths and decide if the deal is good for them. Nobody is having their arm twisted.

Nice to see some forward thinking.
What is good for your drivers will be good for your company and good for your customers. Everyone can win here if the price is right 8)

180 drivers driving 110 cars, we started 2008 with 93 cars, it was our best year to date, don't think i'll be able to say the same about 2009!

I don't know all about it I'm afraid, My limos are licensed. I am more than happy to run 8 seater limo's, I wouldn't want anything bigger, licensed or self drive.
