In the United Kingdom

General elections in Great Britain refer to the election of Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Commons; these must be held within 5 years and 1 month of the last one, but are often held before that time as it is up to the parties in government when to call a general election.

The current Labour Party government have held general elections every four years since coming to power in May 1997 and thereafter in June 2001 and May 2005.

Therefore another election is not legally obliged to occur until June 2010.

kin hell, another 15 months.........

It may be being pedantic but I would like to correct part of the statement from the Australian PM.

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Wasn't Australia used as a place where Britain forced criminals to go?

In my experience a lot of " British " muslims do look down on or are abusive to non muslims because they are not living in accordance with muslim principles. In 40 or 50 years time when the balance of the population in this country is in favour of muslims Britain will probably be converted into a muslim state because it is a founding principle of the islamic religion to be INTOLERANT of all other religions and creeds

Whilst I agree that freedom of speech is important I am finding the increase of references to other nations and creeds to be bordering on the boring now. The site is turning into some kind of advert for the BNP.

My drivers hold their own meetings, a few weeks ago several drivers walked out as they said that it was more like a BNP meeting.

It is always around us but I think when times become hard people start to look for solutions and others take advantage of it. I think I am going to make a point of avoiding posts that become racially motivated. I think it's fine to comment but then there is always somebody who goes a little too far. 8)

sussex, "they" (and we all know who) dont want to LIVE under thier religon, they want everyone else to live under it, they want to impose thier views, rules and laws on the lands that give them freedom...

Have they managed to change your religion?

The only reason some big mouths get the press is because the press know it sells papers and winds folks up.

Id much rather the press inform us of these religious Zealots than go Blissfully through life unawares of them and then wake up one morning to find out that they are ruling the roost........That guy rudd was spot on..if they dont like their guests countries ways they can damn well sling their hook..
