I know PH can set their own tariff but surely they can't legally charge more just because you're in a wheelchair

Go to "Electric Chair?"

And that was four years ago.

For example.

I must be having a Toots moment because I can't figure out who you think you are.

I'm me obviously  One of the other taxi bosses cant read/write very well so im definately not him  the other big fleet owner is far too bent to write anything down as it could be incriminating, he's done enough bird already, so that just leaves me......honest Joe

The above doesn't narrow it down at all...

I'm getting at the fact that some Private Hire drivers in Lincoln, in cahoots with the operators or not, habitually overcharge customers who are disabled. And there was me thinking it was bleeding obvious.

Even Taxi boss would agree this is common practise, but obviously not with his firm...

"habitually overcharge customers who are disabled"

How so when PH companies set their own rates, or do you just mean expensive?

I can't agree or disagree as we do very little wheelchair work due to our lack of wav vehicles, so we dont really get the chance to speak to that part of the market/customers.

No. What I mean is that fares are doubled merely because the passenger is a wheelchair user. To charge a wheelchair user twice as much as an able bodied person for the same journey breaches the DDA.

Oh i see now, i agree it's not very fair to the customer, but they always have the option of getting a quote before they book.

True....but the quote should be the same as for an able bodied passenger.

So someone phones a "Taxi" company, and asks for a quote.

Tower Crescent to the bus station. How much? "£4:00"

"I'm in a wheelchair" "£8:00"

Is that discrimination?
