So someone phones a "Taxi" company, and asks for a quote.

Tower Crescent to the bus station. How much? "£4:00"

"I'm in a wheelchair" "£8:00"

Is that discrimination?

Yes Jimbo....you should contact the disability rights commission....or whoever has taken them over and report the incident....a mystery shopper exercise will see them in court and given a harsh fine.

Im not defending them, not at all, it's obviously wrong and yes you should report them or they will continue to do it.

I think you need the full facts to make a case, the alternative is a kangaroo court

Nothing much to report at the moment, I'm still working the grave yard shift building data bases, the system arrived with a full postcode database for a 50 mile radius of the city, that's a lot of data! I need to get Auriga to strip some of the c**p out of it, i think a 25 mile radius will be plenty even though it is very rural in these parts. I've now managed to complete
the first phase of editing the data slightly ahead of time, last night i started editing all of the flats, houses, views and courts, this is the brain numbing part that I'm not enjoying one bit!

We currently use zonal fares but we will be changing to mileage based fares when we go live in a couple of weeks time, this is the part that i am looking forward to getting set up as we have never before calculated our fares this way. Before i can do this we need to get Auriga to upload our different vehicle preferences as this is how the system calculates fares, we have approx 8 different vehicle types to set up. I'm hoping to complete all of this by the middle of next week which will be about 4 days ahead of the schedule that i have set for myself, this will then allow me an extra few days to get all the nitty gritty stuff sorted out.

I'm sorry if you guys find this stuff boring but just writing it all down somewhere helps me to figure everything out, I've still got a lot of work to do and it has to be done in a specific order and time frame, as the go live date gets closer I'm starting to get a little more excited!

I have just landed myself a whole lot more work DOH!, our new street search database appears to be at least 3-4 years out of date, this means at least 3 more days work on top of my schedule to add in all of the new streets. To be honest i'm a bit annoyed about this as we were advised that the database would only be about a year out of date, oh well it's got to be done so no point in moaning about it.

I'm in the office again tonight from about 18.00, if i work through the night i'm hoping to complete the editing of all the flats, court's etc. This has so far been the worst part of building up the new computer system.

I'd get a bit stroppy with Auriga. They have misrepresented the product you purchased. Got to be worth a few bob off the final invoice or some other sweetener.

In all honesty Auriga have been fantastic in dealing with any problems that have cropped up so far, I'm still along way off finishing the data-base's but i don't think it's going to take me as long as i originally thought. I also believe that i over estimated the extra time it's going to take me to add the missing "new streets", all of the streets editing should be complete in about 70 man hour's in total, unfortunately about 60 of them will have been mine after tomorrow's night shift which I'm hoping will see all the streets completed.

I find that by setting myself a target before i go in each night i leave with a good level of satisfaction as I've normally got on much better than i envisaged i would. Tonight i managed to complete 1 particular task in about a quarter of the time i thought it might take, i was like the cat that got the cream when i left at 04.30 this morning as i'm now well ahead of schedule again, i just hope it keeps going according to plan.

We can only go as fast as Auriga can load more new stuff onto our system, for the first time since last week (when we got the basic system installed) we are officially ahead of the game, let me explain.

The basic Evo system came to us with a streets database pre-installed but this needs editing first, i thought it would take us about a week with several staff working on it, we've managed to complete this about 2 day's early. There's plenty more still to do but the other databases still have to be uploaded onto our system, this should be done today, so tonight i will be editing our driver and vehicle databases. When that's complete next should be our accounts then price matrix's, then we'll get our zones loaded, i think that's pretty much it apart from staff training which will be hopefully completed the last few day's before we go live week comm 23/3/08.

when i was on sales/commission selling parts it wasnt unusual about the 25th of a month to start leaving stock with customers, writing and holding invoices back, and holding it till the 1st of the next month

they say i was in the comfort zone....
