I can't see any. Unless of course you class getting drunk at MY expense a merit. Personally I think it's a mans job to get a lady drunk and not the other way around :D

Could be me I suppose as I have watched to many Carry On films but the 'equal opportunities' comment could be interpreted as 'swings both ways'. But I stress it could be me. Ooooohh Matron

He probably was, but with the stick you were getting the other day and CC's sense of humour - I just concluded that, with you saying you were an equal opportunities provider, I just thought it could be construed as a very pc way of describing a dual sexual identity. Made me chuckle at the time but it's probably me and my strange mind

I stumbled on this posting and as a result, my reply, for what it is worth, is a little late! Late maybe, but I hope you consider it pertinent.

I was initially astonished that C Oakes (CO) should decide to air his particularily dirty washing on an on-line forum. However, given professionalism, honesty and integrity are not words (or indeed traits) he is familiar with, I shouldn't have been surprised!

Normally, neither myself, nor Preston Hackney Carriage Association would choose to conduct our affairs on such a platform, however, his posting is so far from the truth, I will make an exception.
Given CO's tenuous relationship with the concept of truth, I fear he has missed his vocation, he should have been an MP, his expenses claims would be the best work of fiction since Charles Dickens!

Preston Hackney Carriage Association (PHCA) have been serving the trade in Preston for nearly half a century. We are run by elected committee and operate under strict rules, our Articles of Association.
The rules are very specific in respect of meetings.
THE MEETING IN AUGUST 2007 WAS NOT A PHCA MEETING! Just a meeting of drivers who decided to join CO's association.

Out of curiosity, myself (Treasurer) and Keith McNicholas (Secretary) DID
attend the meeting in September. It was NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PHCA, it was clearly a meeting of CO's association, he took membership and collected subs. Keith, myself and a number a PHCA colleagues, chose not to join!
I was invited to his meeting in January 2008 but declined to attend. I, and my PHCA colleagues, have little time for CO's brand of sabre-rattling and chest-thumping posturing!
Since day one, we questioned his motives but after he attempted (December 07) to interfere with our bank accounts, it all became clear!
We appointed a solicitor, significantly, neither CO nor his solicitor were able to produce a shred of credible evidence to prove his claim of affiliation!
I ask you, given CO's stubborn and bull-headed inablilty to accept defeat, do you not think, if there was a whiff of legitimacy in his claims, he would have proven his case, in court if neccessary?

CO recently posted on a local paper website sic. 'Selly thinks he right so do i'. Even allowing for his overblown sense of self-importance, it defies logic and crediblity, that he is right while PHCA members and committee, Preston City Council Licensing committee and licensing department, Lancs Evening Post, our solicitor, his solicitor, our Bankers, Legal Dept. at bank Head Office and finally, NTA and it's directors...all take a contrary view!!

Sorry if you consider this a petty squabble, PHCA has over 70 members and are long-standing members of the NTA. CO claims to 'have PHCA'.....
He could not be further from the truth!

Mark Selley- Secretary , Preston Hackney Carriage Association
