Taxi Driver Online

I was checking my google local yesterday and was amazed that most of the listings for couriers were taxi's.they weren'y on there before is this a new thing ? It's like 8 new courier businesses starting up.Are they insured for this kind of work, I run an xlwb so they can't do what I do but watch out you small van O/D's if this is the case.Does anyone know if this is right...Just google courier and your town and see what I mean.

I would ring them up and ask for price, then ask if they are insured for the carriage of goods for hire or reward. I had to have a special insurance to enable my mini bus to carry both passengers and goods. Even small parcels they will find they are not insured for

Taxis typically don't have the goods in transit insurance in place, which is how I helped one of the companies I worked for win local delivery rounds out of a pharmacy. They learnt that the packages themselves weren't insured, but the vehicles were for the work they did. As you can imagine they suddenly didn't want to use the taxis anymore.

Thanks for the feedback guys,I know taxi's have always done small bits but what worried me was the blatant advertising in the courier sections on google,most people perhaps wouldn't think to ring a taxito deliver a small parcel etc before, but now they are there along side us and in a lot of cases there are more taxi's than couriers advertised..food for thought!!

Courier Exchange a web site for couriers getting back loads. You have to register and have the proper insurance before you can join and you have to pay a fee to access the site.
