Hi all , the past two nights when im breaking at around 40mph to come to a stop the back wheel or wheels is locking, would anyone know way its doing that ??

If its the old type fairway maybe one of the brakes is over adjusted?

does the fairway have a load compensator for the rear brakes?
If so, it may be jammed.

Thanks for the replys, to tell the truth i can change the front breaks and change the oil ect.. but i no nothing at all about the back breaks, its a 97 fairway if that helps, also when breaking it feels like the back is getting pulled backwards.

well the first thing to do is Pull your back brake drums off and see if you have any linings left on your rear brake shoes... and then go from there... also check to see you haven't got a broken back spring or loose U- bolts that hold your rear axle on to your rear springs....

The back brakes are self adjusting.They seem to be the same as the early transits.
Sometimes if the linings are worn and the drums full of dust they'll grab.
Might be worth having the drums off and give them a blow out.

Hi all, I got the wheel and hub off, The brake shoes wouldn even have a quarter inch left on them. The back right brake cylinder is leaking brake fluid. Does anyone have prices on shoes and brake cylinders?????

There have been some on ebay over the past few days.Might be worth checking someone like Brakes International to get an idea of a fair price to pay for them.

You can get a repair kit for them for a few bob but I cannot remember who makes the back Axel for that cab

brakeparts.co.uk list them at about £25..00 plus Vat.They are the same as fitted to some transits,bear in mind that on the transit vans two different thicknesses of linings were used..Looking at a couple of other places,some list them at £70 odd quid!
