Maybe not where you are bud, but here we have drivers who can't speak English and rely on the Tom Tom

A proper knowledge test would sort this out

proved it the other week the taxi marshalls monitored the drop off zone where they pretend to wait for a booking and guess what, no PH vehicle in sight until the marshalls left to do something else.

Enforcement works as well

Exactly, they just don't like it because they can't have a HC one without spending first,

You mean in your minority of councils. The minority that need pen pushers to keep their trade viable. [-(

Well where I am the only way the HC's are making money is to work PH systems thus stealing their work. Swings and roundabouts :D

There's a slight difference, an illegal PHC is taking off the road for nothing, where a circuit HC has paid for the right to use that firms radio, so it's one is breaking the law and the other isn't, it'll always go on you can't stop it, but it gets beyond a joke when a fleet is doing it all the time and right under your nose at that, still it's a risk ppl will take I suppose.

The HC's get reduced settle but not reduced work. I understand the problems with PH picking up off the streets illegally but it's not something I do personally :D

Yeah, the theory is it will only use half the work it could take so it gets a discount, locally friends of mine who have radios have proven they get bypassed in favour of a PHC at times.

As for flagging when I was PH a mate got done 500 notes back in 88, another hit a wall loaded and the sheet had to be fiddled, something that's not an option now the computer is king, and you never know who is sitting next to you, you could have an enforcement officer, another cabby who knows the rules or a bloke who want's to fight you for the fare knowing you can't go to the police for backup, and as we all know there's always someone harder than you out there.

HC on our system don't get by passed at all unless the customer asks not to be sent 'a bus' which is anything that is not a saloon. As regarding there always being somebody harder than me out there I'm inclined to agree to agree being a girlie :D
