My licensing area is, alas, restricted.

Then you should watch Station Tony's utube video links from Ireland, that is what straight deregulation does, and the funny thing is I bet half of the cabbies protesting are ppl who got a plate thx's to dereg rules.
Do you know anyone on here who advocates allowing a complete free for all with no controls? Or does it just make your bleating sound better?
Some of the reading's read that way tbh.
Only because that's how you choose to read them.............
That maybe the case or not, and I admit everyone interprets on the web anyway, but I have no intention of letting other ppl destroy my livelyhood with idle chat thats read by novices and assumed it's written by experts, if we could enlist every Hackney owner and driver in here right now I'm sure my view would get a 90% - 10% support from them, maybe even higher, without going back to last weeks antics (which were resolved btw) I'm of the opinion that unless you drive or own a HC you aren't qualified enough to comment on HC future, I say that because when I was PH for 11 years I had the desire to see it deregulated so I could have a plate, but once I'd bought one and worked a few weeks I could see that I knew absolutely nothing about it while I was PH and could see that all that I'd wished for would've been worth nothing within 12 mths because everyone else would have the same idea and switched over, I suggest those that think I'm wrong go try and work in Dublin and Cardiff etc 1st, see how that 24k you just signed up for would become a milestone around your neck, still you'd have plenty of time to think about it between hirings.
Nice rant.
I don't give a stuff what most Hackney owners think. They care only about the investment they made in a piece of plastic and protecting that investment. They live off the hard work of others and don't give a stuff about anyone else, least of all the public. Unlike you, I don't seek to stop others having what I have. I have my plate and still hold the same opinions I held when I rented from others.
Drivers and their passengers are what matters, not leaches and parasites.
Numbers restriction attracts plate barons, as surely as sh*t attracts flies.
Whether you agree with multi plate holding and absentee plate holders or not, it is lawful. Nobody is going to change the law and it won't stop until those who provide the service can provide it by themselves, without having to pay off those who put nothing in and take plenty out.
You seem to be forgetting something, I own one plate, it pays my mortgage and provides me with a job, while your principles are good ones can you not see that by doing what you want you will attract the very thing you are going on about, investors, not drivers, investors, and you can make as many rules as you wish they will find a loop to abuse the system, my point is I'm not prepared to see my life change for the worse to appease a few other's, we are overstocked locally, we've been deregulated before, I bought mine while deregulated because I wanted a car and not a van, in the time I've been doing the job the fleet locally is 150% larger than it was when I started, and I've lived it seeing another 30 mouths to feed per year, year on year, almost 100 ppl took the option to spend 25k on a car so they could have a free plate until we got it stopped due to radically falling income, now if you wish to find out 1st hand, keep banging that dereg drum, I can promise you within 1 year you're opinion will change, and don't let Sussex influence you, he's a PH driver who wants a Hack, he too can't see the error's of his judgement although he does have other valid points, don't say I haven't warned you if it happens to you later on.
Now, I'd appreciate from you in future, just general chat, I have no wish to have a slanging match with you, and as I made good with Sussex over last weeks outbursts I offer you the same.
