Sussex.....I know we are going to meet before the NTA conference in Eastbourne....and I know, that you know, that I know, the government will probably announce something there.

My opinion is.......obviously the opinion of the membership.

Even though I know I think they have been wrong in the past.

I am actually interested in what your view is, and JD's for that matter of this entire thing, because I know that will be objective.

Now, put your thinking cap on

I think the gov will go for the standard specification, and my eyes zoomed in on this bit in the consultation. :-$

we could implement a regulation according to, for example, whether an area is an urban authority or areas with high levels of limiting, long-term illness. The Impact Assessment uses a compliance date for this option of between 2012 and 2020. We have concluded that regulating for a certain proportion of the fleet being wheelchair accessible and a certain proportion being saloon cars would be unworkable, as it would be open to legal challenge and there would be practical implementation problems. We would need to amend the existing regulation-making power through primary legislation to take this option forward.

I think what we end up with wont be a million miles from this.

I look forward to informing AAA Farmer Piles Cabs (the first in the book) who serve a farming community of 12 on the Cumbrian Pennines......that they have to spend £40K + on a vehicle for the wheelchair bound that the wheelchair bound will never use.

ffs

It's a funny old world... I'll always remember a friend of mine who was in the T&G telling me , that there was nothing to worry about regarding the OFT..He explained that the union had had a brilliant meeting, and how they had listened to the arguments put forward, and how they have agreed the stupidity of de restricting numbers controls... he couldn't believe their report when it came out.....

I think it's worth reminding folks of the 1995 act.

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1995/uk ... 50050_en_1

If we go to section 35 (3) http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1995/uk ... -pb1-l1g35

That allows Farmer Giles's council to apply for an exemption, if it would lead to a mass exodus of cabs from the countryside.

Having written to my MP about an extension to the closing date for consultation, he has responded saying he will raise the issue with the minister.

So, another one asking questions.
