Of all the folks on TDO I think I'm the one least likely to fence sit.

Your getting confused between a standard, and a restriction.

Age limits are restrictions, as no-matter what high standard a vehicle might be in, it's got to go. That type of blanket ban is madness, and that's why I support the Leeds lads in trying to stop the reduction in age limits.

The answer in Leeds is proper enforcement to bin the sheds.

In the Dales it appears to me the council has been very lazy in relation to drivers standards, and if they are trying to improve on those then they have my support.

Not saying I want the age restriction in Leeds, but if it gets rid of some of the sh*te thats running round then its a good think.
Part of the problem is the council being lazy over the past 10 or 15 years.
At one time we had our vehicles inspected twice a year in an old tram shed, they were very strict, you could take if for an MOT at the local garage and pass the day before your inspection only for it to fail the council inspection.

They knocked the old tram shed down which had 2 bays to build a new hi-tech 5 bay garage, whilst this was happening we were told to get normal MOT's done at any garage.

The new garage must have been up at least 10 years and they never started doing MOT's again and haven't even got MOT status

Alas, often the case.

The Leeds delegation will be attending our next National Organising meeting in Hull on the 29th April 2009. I hope to update you all after that date.

Regards
