Taxi Driver Online

It's come to my attention recently or rather I've noticed it more recently, that, taxi drivers can be quite a scruffy bunch when they put their mind to it.

Some look like they haven't washed their hair or what's left of it for a week, there's no sign of razor in a couple of days, baggy sweat shirt tops (that don't hide the beer belly no matter what you think) and sweat pants with knees in cos they've been worn for days. That's just the girls

God forbid when the summer arrives and out pop the hairy shins, white socks & sandal brigade cos it's time to put on shorts. When I say shorts I mean those overly bright things that you shouldn't even swim in let alone work in. Lets not forget the vest top with the hairy pits popping out. It's not attractive and it's not professional.

Anyway it got me to thinking what would be a suitable/practical uniform type clothing for taxi drivers. Also do you think the council have a justifiable case for imposing such uniforms on drivers?

No , dont stir up such stuff, next thing we know we will be going to court to get the dress code stopped, these remarks gives Local Authorities ideas, stop right now

on what qualification has any one got, to judge who dresses smart, lets face it you can put some in a suit and they still look like a bag o sh*t, leave people alone. let em dress how they want, we are not Eddie Stobart

Its that type of attitude that has seen PH take off in certain areas leaving the HC trade with practically nothing.

I am all for a dress code not a uniform but smart and casual.

When i was with a office i had to go into hotels and restaurants for my customers and would be embarrassed if i looked untidy but i do agree with toots some drivers look like they have been dragged through a hedge backwards. And there nothing worse than getting smelly passengers and even worse getting into a smelly taxi .

The customer is king. As a driver you should dress in a way that YOU think is appropriate. Ultimatly it is the customer who will decide if YOUR dress is appropriate. If the customer doesn't like it, they will use a different firm next time. Obviously a little difficult if taking a taxi from the rank.

No trainers, no tracksuits or t shirts allowed

Toots i don't think that is appropriate dress code

It's been that year here for years Personally I don't do slob and I don't understand anybody you does when they go to work and impressions count

Whilst I wear smart casual clothes for work I was still curious about everybody else's opinion as I've seen some scary stuff around lately
