I must agree.

Stationtone your dress code leaves a lot to be desired after all we are meant to make a good impresion when dealing with the public

It's come to my attention recently or rather I've noticed it more recently, that, taxi drivers can be quite a scruffy bunch when they put their mind to it.

Some look like they haven't washed their hair or what's left of it for a week, there's no sign of razor in a couple of days, baggy sweat shirt tops (that don't hide the beer belly no matter what you think) and sweat pants with knees in cos they've been worn for days. That's just the girls

God forbid when the summer arrives and out pop the hairy shins, white socks & sandal brigade cos it's time to put on shorts. When I say shorts I mean those overly bright things that you shouldn't even swim in let alone work in. Lets not forget the vest top with the hairy pits popping out. It's not attractive and it's not professional.

Anyway back to the point

Anyway it got me to thinking what would be a suitable/practical uniform type clothing for taxi drivers. Also do you think the council have a justifiable case for imposing such uniforms on drivers?

Uniform all the way for me, it looks more professional and would give you an edge on your rivals.

For me to....sadly I inherited mine from my uncle Hauptmann Hans Grabbenknaker who was in the 31st Waffen-SS Volksgrenadier Division..It fits like a glove and does look very smart but sadly it does get me some strange glances. I offset this and soften the overall image with just wearing the upper uniform including hat along with grey trackie bottoms and a pair of Beige croc captiva sandals...I look great until I get out the vehicle..

I used to wear a shirt and tie all the time and keep my car clean, it makes a difference!
There is nothing hard/uncomfortable wearing a shirt and tie as long as you wear the correct size shirt, and the top button MUST be done up and clean shoes!
Scruffy drivers are the first to moan about people getting in thier cars with kebabs!

Clean car.

Open neck shirt (that's capable of taking a tie), smart, casual slacks (not jeans, track suit bottoms, shorts, etc.), smart, polished shoes (not trainers, sandals, etc.).

Clothing must not have any logos, badges or lettering.

Company standards committee have the power to remove the car from the system until transgressions are rectified. It works.

It appear that some of you would be quite happy wearing lumnious green strappy things if it attracts the attention that chap is getting. I personally think the more sensible idea of trousers & shirts is more appealing, but, I do like the sunglasses :D

I wonder how people would think if, next time they go on holiday the pilot wears a string vest, pair of shorts, smells of body odour and wears flip flops?
