Lowering fares to increase drivers income is a gamble that you took without all of them being consulted. Fair comment it is your business, but, if this gamble fails they are the ones out of pocket. Would it be fair to suggest that you also lower your settle until you have proven that the gamble has paid off

Most certainly not a good idea to sit around doing nothing, and I would much rather do four £5.00 jobs an hour rather than three £6.00 jobs.

But what is stopping your competitors discounting even further? :?

None of my business.....but isn't lowering fares the week fuel duty rises a couple of pence per litre.....rather tactless?

If it is found to be a mistaken venture whilst you can hold your hands up.....It hasn't cost you.....it costs the drivers.

I am surprised to see your lack of respect for the drivers who keep you in the luxuries your accustomed to.

I already have a fuel duty fare levy in place for my drivers which has kicked in several times during the last year or so.

Is there any truth that desk money, radio rent, settle has actually INCREASED at Discount Cabs this year.

Also, if Discount INCREASE their market share, wont Handsome cabs and Direct cabs be bound to reduce theirs to fight back in a fare war?

Do you not accept that "slashing fares" as you advertised, the portion of the reduced fare was purely driver profit?

Did you when operating your "discount card" (a sort of nectar card) FINE drivers who did not sign up new members on a daily basis?

Are you a benevolent dictator, have you taken a wage cut too, or are you building up your pot for your next poker tournement?

1. My circuit rent went up £3.00 last year, this was our 1st increase in 18 years.

2. At least one of them already did a couple of weeks ago.

3. No.

4. Definitely not, in fact exactly the opposite, we removed commission driver shift charges for drivers that brought new application forms in.

5. (a) You would need to ask the 200+ people that work for me that question.
(b) Hasn't everyone?
(c) I gave up playing poker last year due to other business interests.

Why did your advert state "Taxi fares slashed" when you are a private hire operator?

Taxi fares in Lincoln have not been slashed, nor will they be.

I don't chase after the prce sensitive punter.

I am old enough to remember the £1:50 anywhere in Lincoln of the 1980's

Running around like a BAF for naff all.

Nothing at all, but I personally felt that something really needed to be done, i also believe many more would do the same if they felt that they could do without getting a whipping from drivers or through fear of drivers leaving.

My point is if your competitors discount to the rate you are on at present, or maybe lower, then how does that benefit your drivers if they haven't gained work yet have lost money on each job? :?

Sorry about the repeat posts I keep getting a critical error message.

Anyway, taxi-boss, are you saying you never fined drivers (£2) for not signing up new customers to your discount scheme on a daily basis(thanks for the mailshot, btw  )?

Didn't know you had given up your semi pro poker player status. That bad huh?

The term "Taxi" is allowed by trading standards if also accompanied by the words "Private Hire" which is stated in all of my ad's.

Yes Jimbo that's exactly what i am saying, drivers that did submit the card applications forms had their shift charges waived, those that didn't paid shift charges. I have never fined a driver for any reason whatsoever.

I have played poker in one form or another since being a young boy, i played the main UK poker tour for 3-4 years where i was lucky enough to win 3 UK ranking events, I had to stop due to other commitments last year.
