Is this the site that has about a dozen folks on it calling for everyone to abandon the LTDA and join up with the LTCP . . who? . . R.

Divide and conquer.

Bless them. :D

There are always Police initiatives taking place although some drivers in London have selective sight and memories when it comes to this.
The 'tout squad' for want of a better name has around 60 officers who work permanent nights, but Londons a big old place.

The problem will always be the scale of the touting problem and the low priority The Police, The PCO, MP's and of course . . the public give it.

Rapist, Burglar, Fraud, Car theft . . . or a PH driver picking up unbooked work? Most people seem to accept it as the norm, just like Cannabis, it's not a great issue unless you happen to drive a Taxi or fall victim to one of the 7 Minicab sexual assaults that take place every month.

New York seemed to get it under control, I can only hope London follows and does the same, but it will take a massive effort and a lot of cash.

How did New York cure this?

It's never been 'cured' it never will be, there's always a new face willing to take the risk.

I believe, quite simply that they poured massive resources into ridding the streets of 'Gypsy Cabs'.

The Taxi trade has it's own Police Force in the shape of the Taxi and Limo Commision.

The LTDA are not the PCO, The Police, Nor the Courts.

We can only make the relevant people aware (as if they were'nt already) and pressurise them into some form of enforcement action.
However there must be the best part of 3000+ touts in actions all over London on any given night, and with 60 Police Officers and a couple of dozen CO's, I can't say I'm holding my breath.

Revoking this silly 'Clipboard Tout' license will be a start, although TFL seem to think it's legal and above board under the recent London PH act.

Besides we don't have to, have'nt you heard? Bob Crow is going to sort it all out with the all new RMT Taxi branch. :?

I understand that and I'm not having a pop.

But some sort of plan is needed i.e. lobby MPs, Boris, Transport Comm, or even a Judicial Review.

Is it worth suggesting your vehicle license goes up, say, £100 a year to pay for an extra 50 full-time police who's job is solely tout arresting? :?

22 to be precise.

Perhaps he wanted a hat cam opposed to an undercover cam?

Still, the RMT and the LTCPR are sorting it all out now Mr A, the LTDA can afford to keep some of their members money back for a bit longer.
