We need more people to move to Lincoln, it's a very nice place in the middle of no where. :D

You must be kidding! I went round Lincoln on the A46 this afternoon. From the first roundabout, the turning for North Hykeham to the last one, the turning for Nettleham which is a distance of 8.5 miles took me nearly 45 minutes. Sometimes it takes even longer.

The A46 is the Lincoln bypass it does get bad around rush hour, if your coming in from Newark try taking the Collingham road as far as the A57 then before you get back to the A46 take a left through Burton village, that will get you to the same area for the Nettleham turning. This way will take you about 30-35 mins and is normally clear of traffic.

Burton village has some very tight blind corners with a very steep traffic lighted T junction onto the cliff road. The road from the A57 through Burton itself has typical Lincolnshire destroyed road shoulders and is more than a little narrow in places. I wouldn't recommend it for anything bigger than a transit.

From the cliff road (not actually it's name, just what some locals call it) you're still some ways off the A46 branch towards Nettleham, Market Raisen etc.

There are alternatives (which I do use when local radio or our controller warns of problems) but they involve a fair bit more mileage even though they will avoid the major congestion areas.

It's the same problem around Lincoln as so many other old cities with poor infrastructure - one accident anywhere in the city or on the bypass and there are so few alternative routes the whole area gridlocks in 20 mins or so.

There's also a hell of a lot of traffic going to/from Skeggie etc plus HGV to/from Immingham/ Grimsby.

Worst times are Friday afternoons without a doubt... :x

I was expecting a very busy Easter weekend but unfortunately it didn't really materialise, Thursday night was very busy, Friday and Saturday were a little quieter than normal but the big surprise for me was Sunday night. Every year since we started Easter Sunday has always been a fantastic night, normally we are flat out from start to finish but i thought last night was very average in comparison to previous years.

I had an excellent night last night. Perhaps it really doesn't matter what the charges are, it's all down to service here though :D

I can't tell you. Well I could but then I'd have to hunt you down in my pink wellies and shoot you with my new pink gun. Once Mr T has taught me how to use it

From todays Lincolnshire Echo...

"New route system is a price buster"

After 18 years of using a "zone to zone" system 180 car firm Discount Cabs has invested in more sophisticated MapPoint technology for pre booked trips.
The old method took the journey distance as the crow flies and added 20%, but the Monson Street based bussiness's new software can more accurately judge the distance travelled.
"The old system stood us in very good stead for those years, but at the back end of last year, we decided to change." said managing director ***** ****.
"We found that more people aren't travelling long distances by taxi and the number of short journeys was increasing"
"With this new system we hoped to knock the prices down by 10 to 15 per cent and we've found that people are very appreciative"

END.

Are the drivers as happy?

Could you post any of my ad's from the news paper please jimbo, maybe you can also post a copy of my jingle off the radio while you are at it?

PS. Thanks for the free advertising mate.

Is the radio advert for new drivers?

free advertising? To the seven users of this site?

Why would i need to advertise for new drivers?

To replace those that have buggerred off to Handsome and Direct?
