Or are you going to claim that you have not lost any drivers after slashing fares?

Any truth in the claims that desk money is going up by about 10% in the next couple of weeks?

Any truth in the rumour that you've told drivers if they don't like the new fare structure they can F*** off?

What percentage, on average, of an owner drivers weekly takings, do YOU take? I've heard it can be 20%, but i find it hard to believe you could find 180 suckers (and falling) to pay that much.

Four rumours there. True or false?

A.

B.

C.

D.

I'm not sure it matters what % an owner takes, it's the money the driver ends up with.

i.e. I would sooner have 80% of a grand than 100% of £600. :?

I'd heard it was going up to 147 inc vat per week, but the source for that is prone to a degree of exageration.

Ours take £85.00 regardless what you earn and they are due to raise it as they do periodically for no apparent reason other than they can.

I can't believe anybody could justify a payment of that amount for settle surely it must be exagerated

Firstly it's great to see that the taxi rumour mill is still churning away merrily in Lincoln, long may it last!

Secondly, jimbo you seem to to taking an awful lot of interest in my business, are you thinking of hanging up your HC badge and switching to PH ?

Now to your questions:

Or are you going to claim that you have not lost any drivers after slashing fares?

Three drivers left my company within the first week of my promotion starting, however this is nothing new, every single time we start a new promotion we lose drivers, sometimes a few and sometimes a lot. Several years ago when we introduced our loyalty card many drivers disliked the very nature of our promotion and ended up leaving, before we introduced the card we had approx 65 owners, when we stopped using the loyalty card we had 110 owners, this was without a doubt our most sucessful promotion to date but we still lost drivers at the beginning.

Sometimes operators need to do whats best for their business's long term future not just whats best for their short term income. By the way the 3 owners that left have all now been replaced using two new owners from our waiting list, one more car came from an existing owner already working here, 110 owners pre promotion, 110 now.

Any truth in the claims that desk money is going up by about 10% in the next couple of weeks?

I've already posted that my company has increased our rent once in 18 years, this was done several months ago, that increase was £3.00 per week, i have no current plans to increase my drivers rent.

Any truth in the rumour that you've told drivers if they don't like the new fare structure they can F*** off?

The simple answer is no, i suppose what this question really boils down to is would i tell them to **** off if that situation arose, in honesty i might well do so. I make the final decisions at my company, not my drivers, we consult drivers about many different things but the final decision rests with me. I make these decisions because i think that they are correct for the long term future of my company as well as everyone that works for me, including all of my drivers. During the last 18 years i a very proud that i have never had to lay any of my work force off or make anyone redundant.......THAT'S 18 YEARS!

What percentage, on average, of an owner drivers weekly takings, do YOU take? I've heard it can be 20%, but i find it hard to believe you could find 180 suckers (and falling) to pay that much.

We don't normally charge owners any percentage on the work that they do, we charge all owners a set weekly fee, for this they can work their cars 24/7 with as many drivers as they wish to work their car for them. We do have a takings short fall deal available to owners that want to take time off or if they are forced not to work due to breakdowns etc. during these instances alone we charge owners 15% of any work done during a normal working week.

PS. My turn now, is there any truth in the rumours that you like to dress up in lady's underwear? Hope this isn't offensive to you, it's just what i heard from a taxi driver :D

A rumour that I like to wear ladies underwear?

I wonder how the person that told you that knew?

I cannot imagine that a lace thong would make me any more alluring than I already am though

Rumour: a mixture of truth and untruth, told by one person to another. Gossip.

A certain taxi driver was spreading a rumour that I reported another taxi driver to the Council for smoking in his cab. He will bitterly regret his rumour mongering. A lie too far.

It's one thing Taxi drivers and "taxi" drivers do have in common. They do love to gossip, spread rumours, and speculate.

30 years ago, whilst driving a bus, I was involved in an accident, resulting in injury, thankfully not serious. That didn't stop others spreading a rumour that I was killed.

Rumours of my death were greatly exagerated, as they say.

And the rumour that I am on your companies waiting list is also untrue, btw.

And the moral of this story is "Don't Believe all the rumours that you or I hear".

The control room at my office feels more like a class room at the moment as we have hired the services of 7 local student teachers to input the data for our new zonal fare matrix into our computer system. I'm hoping this will be completed by the end of this month so that i can get my own desk back, it actually makes me feel really annoyed because someone else is sitting in my chair, at my desk!

My GM is still away on his holiday's at the moment, he's not due back for another couple of weeks or so, hopefully he will come back and we will have resolved all of our current pricing issues. I definately don't want to go away myself until these issues are 100% solved, unfortunately that's exactly what i may end up doing as wifey has just booked us a holiday for early next month. I have never been more ready for a holiday than i am right now, these last few months have taken their toll on my health, a good holiday will be just what the doctor ordered.

Are you mad letting your second in command go on holiday when you are changing over systems?

What has he got on you? :-$

My GM works very hard, for this i pay him very well but he's worth every penny and more, he is currently taking a 5/6 week break in Australia, he was here for go live but left for his holiday about a week after.

One of the best things about my life is that no living soul has anything on me, i am what i am and for that i make no apology, some may not like me but that's their problem, not mine. That line reminds me of a song!
