I'm very well Don.

Hope your members are enjoying their 80 hour weeks. :D

When you do the coveted Knowledge to become a real licensed London Taxi driver, you learn 6 miles around Charing Cross, and then in a later stage you learn the routes to and from the outlying areas in the Metropolis.

That's the difference, we may possess such devices for trips to infinity and beyond, but we don't rely on them for the bread and butter work of transporting passengers from A to B in London.

We also speak English, which, unless I’m mistaken is still the spoken language of Great Britain, and where passengers should expect their drivers to be able to communicate in their language?

Bluster? :?

Well if it was hate and bluster, I could be instantly promoted to the Chairman’s job within the GMB PDB, all I would have to do is promote the IRA, celebrate murder and call the Police 'police' at every given opportunity, call circuit owners 'chiselling scum' and then purport to be a professional rep who negotiates on the members behalf.

That's why the GMB represent the Minicab trade, albeit about 500 out of 55'000.

Can I recommend you check your spelling before posting. . it makes it that little more professional, you know being a branch rep and all that?

Cheers.

That's called a London PH driver license, and then help yourself to any venue or street that tickles your fancy.

I will however commend Don on his battle to get licensed operators to tow the line when it comes to driver numbers and the lack of work for them, and this topography test they are entrusted to deliver to their own drivers, which few, surprisingly seem to fail. :?

good afternoon, thought i best set the record straight.I have never nor will support any organisation that uses force or war against civilians. I have never supported the I.R.A. I am of english descent and extremely proud of my heritage. I am genuinely concerned for the drivers lot in this shark infested industry,I have and will continue to work with the better propietors who are realising in these difficult times that the most important asset that they have are the drivers. As you quoted that the chairman of the GMBPDB is in your opinion a ******* you are obviously thinking of someone else ! who has always expressed his personal feeling and thoughts, perhaps you should direct your frustrations towards that person. Finally i have been active as a driver in this industry for 35 years and whilst perhaps not having taken the knowledge (fully support and congratulate those men & women that have) my customers were always amazed at my knowledge and ability to get them to journeys end in a safe-courteous-professional manner, this is the standard that the majority of drivers take pride in delivering evey day. Thanks for pointing out my spelling oops!!!!! (predictive typing) regards Don :P :P

according to the proposed DFT wav consultation all hackneys and private -hire should be wheelchair accesible.

I think the current proposals/consultations are aiming at 100% WAV taxis, but in time who knows?

As for the bikes, how they can be accepted as a safe form of paid transport I don't know.

I know Leeds tried it out, and in time they binned it.
I see you have the bigger picture my learned friend!

I think we all know to whom I refer.

I'm not frustrated, just very saddened that he conducts himself in the way that he does.

Professional? :?
