Can they do that. I mean 100k driven by a tosspot driver would surely cause more likely damage than 100k driven by an experienced driver :?

did you ask to see the T&Cs applied to the offer?

did you inform him that trading standards are only a phone call away?

did you tell him you knew where he lived?

did he advise you of the reduced mileage cover before or after fitting?

Mr clutch give a 12,000 mile/12 months warrenty on their clutches.
I had one fitted to my 406 and it lasted 10,000 miles. They replaced it and so far it has been fine. I had another fitted to my Vectra and it lasted 11,000 miles. They were reluctant to change it but they did in the end.
they tried to argue that the warrenty did not cover taxis. I pointed out that there was no exclusion on their guarantee and it doesn't matter how long it takes to do the 12,000 miles as long as it is less that 12 months.
I still don't think I would go back again.

cant believe a clutch will only last 10k....

i know its a harder life than private motoring but come on!....

my van had 190,000 on the clock on its original clutch when sold

One of their's does, probably shove the cheapest unit they can find for £30 and then charge you £500 for it, always best to get a reputable pattern or an OEM and have someone you trust fit it.

You're all talking stuff over my head now. I mean my car goes and stops and if it doesn't it's sick and needs a car doctor and that's the extent of my knowledge

Toots, there are (believe it or not) "garages" out there who will fit crap parts and charge top dollar, there are a couple of ways to avoid this

1. seek out the good workshops, these will not always be main dealers, ask around who is reliable and trustworthy

2. source your own parts and have them fitted, easy fo rme to say being an ex-partsman.

3. only have vehicles covered by manufacturers warranty and hope the dealers are good enough

Dont forget, you DONT need to use main dealers for servicing to maintain warranty cover, just a vat-regd workshops who can "service in line with manufacturers recommendations"

Always check warranties when buying a new vehicle, my s.hitroen was 100,000 miles but was in for repair at

1000 miles (hose clip fell off)
15,000 miles (clutch warped)...4 day job
22,000 miles (suspension top bearing)....5 day job
30,000 miles (engine wiring loom)....5 day job
44,000 miles (injector - £500)....3 day job
51,000 miles (wiring loom).....a week
72,000 miles (engine mounting).....2 days
85,000 miles (wheel bearing).... a week
93,000 miles (wiring loom).....3 days

Fiat/Citroen have very few parts on the shelf (I can understand why)

and at 100,001 miles I chucked it back at the finance company under my right to return goods clause and my nerves were shot

it got to the point where I was so fed up I would buy a part if not expensive and have my men fit it, it was quicker.

I don't want to play this game

Cars are for driving and if they hadn't broken it I wouldn't need to be getting it fixed now. Anyway the sensor has to be done by the main dealer so they can reset the computer thingy and the tyre place are going to reimburse me. I'm taking the car to the base later so somebody can change the bulb. Now all I have to do is find somebody good for the brake pads which appears to be the hardest part.

I'd have normally changed my car now cos it's out of warranty I wish I had now cos I wouldn't be needing any of this doing if I had

I was just going to suggest this. Brake pads are easy to change, just get a mate to do it and bung him a few quid. :D

I can, but, I only want my brake pads doing I don't want to marry any of them

I've somebody to do the pads that cost me £30 for the pads and the fluttering of the eyelashes worked I just have to pin him down to what day they'll be done :D

The Pug dealer can't do the sensor until the 16th ffs

Just need to get the bulb changed now and I'm sure if I smile sweetly the guy doing the pads will change the bulb too :D
