We've just sourced a doctor who's going to do our medicals for £25, he'll do them between 2pm and 5pm for 3 days a week. He's getting some cash in his pocket plus we are happy chappies. He's not a bad doctor either. You've got to ask about, there are plenty out there who will do the medical without the need to charge the full price.

Just go around to your practise and ask if any docs are available to do medicals, or try to talk to some of them I am sure some need a bit of pocket money

I have a PCV licence, so I though I would use the same medcial for my PSV and my hackney badge. Off I went to the local university, and paid £40.00 for my medical, which the DVLA duly accepted, and issued me a licence to drive bus and coaches, which include the huge double deckers, which can carry 110 passengers.

the LA decided, since that medical wasn't carried out by my own GP, it wasn't valid, and had to pay my GP another £145 for a taxi medical, which took about half the time of the PSV medical.

How the hell can a medical which allows me to drive a coach worth £250k with 110 passengers on not cover me to drive a Skoda Octavia ?????

Me thinks I will be visiting a solicitor before my next set of medicals are due!

Hi Stinky can you point out the bit in conditions that says you have to go to your own doc for medical, (i take it your on about york) had a look couldnt find anything got 2 medicals in august truck and taxi and will be going to http://www.driversmedicals.com/index.html £49 for 1 and an extra £5 to fill in the second form.

its on the letter you get with your form for the Doc to fill in

i live next door to a woman doctor, i showed her the letter and form, she said your stuffed, you will have to go to your own doctor as it says they have to use your medical history to fill in the form, but my doctor said he does not refer to medical history when doing the medical, they also ask you how many fags your on as well

otherwise she said i would do the medical in my kitchen and make a few bob on the side

Just rang my doctor for a price for medical £90 asked how much it would be to fill in 2 forms at same time 1 for TAXI & 1 for HGV both same group 2 , they said it would be £180 i did ask if they are having a laugh they said no.
I have had a quote from http://www.driversmedicals.com/ £49 for medical and another £5 to fill in the other form, they do hgv psv and taxi medicals what grounds could the LO refuse to accept the medical when DVLA would accept it, and what could you do if they did?

this LA was "occy health" only for medicals (£115 i think) but now a GP suffices, so next time i shall try to go thru the HGV online medicals for £45

Thats what i am gonna do, if they refuse it i will appeal, although it gives there guide lines in licence conditions it doesnt say you have to go to your own doctor.
York taxi licensing make the rules up as they go.

That HGV driving centre at Tockwith do medicals for somewhere around £56. Just had mine done to renew HGV and PSV but have yet to find out if Selby Council will accept this for Hack licence renewal.
